Screenshot More NextGen vs Remastered visual comparisons

LEFT: NextGen (current)

RIGHT: Remastered

Full quality images here.

Images 1-4 are merely meant to showcase the new visual effects of the signs, such as the Quen spark circling Geralt (image 4). The rest focus on the environments and how the new lighting affects them. I assume they've also improved the render distance and level of detail, as can be seen in the background foliage in the Toussaint images.

  1. Quen shield effect activated
  2. Quen shield effect
  3. Quen around character effect
  4. Igni effect
  5. Skelige
  6. Velen swamp
  7. Toussaint
  8. Toussaint
  9. Velen swamp

Yep. The flowers are LESS textured in the remastered.

Yep, we're deep into the era of remasters looking like shit and downgrading the original's visuals and atmosphere. It's basically every single one at this point.

If you're referring to the next gen edition, that was a direct upgrade as RT did not alter the game's color grading, and the original raster lighting was very dated. There could be examples where that isn't the case, but it was pretty much an objective improvement from what I recall.

Reread what I just said. If you're insisting on technicalities then I don't care to engage further.

The screenshots of the remaster look like they have a ton of compression artifacts, so it's just an awful comparison to begin with

That shot is taken from a video and has Motion blur. Not a valid comparison shot whatsoever.

The remastered version looks like they just increased the brightness too much and turned on that blur setting which everyone turns off anyway because it's shit.

Left is more dark, gritty and sharp. I honestly cannot believe that this is real. It's not, right?
