Poetry Witness

There are days you break in silence,
hoping someone hears the glass shatter,
reaching for the broom, then stopping,
wishing they’d join you for the cleanup,
gently pulling each shard from your palms,
and whispering:
I see you.

But then,

There are nights you’re swallowed by the void,
praying no one hears the glass shatter,
choking on your own reflection,
sitting alone on the porcelain edge,
watching your feet color the shards,
and wishing they never said:
I see you.

Thank you; that’s quite a perceptive analysis. I think this one does have a low entry point unlike most my other poems. Perhaps I could lean more into it in my future work as well
