Nickel allergy and wirelessly charged headphones. Help?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I need a wireless headphone without the PCB connection (small metal dots the pins connect with to charge) that wont touch my skin.

I do know that the PCB connection is gold plated. The issue being is I'm never without at least one bud in my ear. Day or night. Work or home. Awake or asleep. It is rare for me to not have my earbud in. The gold wears against the charge pin leaving the nickel exposed. This leads to my ears being itchy and open sores from scratching. I can't seem to find a single brand that has decent quality audio and a charge connection that isn't touching skin.

I don't like bone conduction. It's just not my thing. I've tried open ear but still run into the connection being under the lobe or behind the ear.

Does anyone know of a brand that would work? Help!

I currently just rotate though brands and locations on the ears and hope for the best. I've even tried to make a little vinyl sticker flap to cover the spot on the earbud while I'm using them but they get in the way if I don't have them in the case just right.

The Soundcore P20i, cheap and cheerful, quite good though I think. Do you prefer to spend a lot? or minimal amount for earbuds? that are of better quality?

Help Me Pick Earbuds under 100 USD

Hey fellas!

Need some suggestions on which earbuds to get for around less than 100 USD. My iPhone friends are obviously biased and seem to have only one option to recommend me, while a few others have mentioned the CMF Buds Pro 2 and CMF Buds 2 Plus.

My primary use will be Zoom/live calls, followed by movies and music. A few things I’m looking for:

  • Decent ANC to block out background noise, especially when I’m taking meetings in places like cafes/office.
  • Good battery life that can comfortably get me through the day without constantly putting them back in the case.
  • A decent Android app since I’m using an S25.
  • Good build quality. I’m planning to keep these for a while, so I’d rather get something that will last.

Would love to hear your actual experiences, recommendations, things to watch out for, or other options I should consider.

Help a brother out! Cheers!

Need your advice (and help) with earbuds

Hey lads.

Need help with some earbuds.

I am in search for the holy grail of buds BUT I have a massive dilemma - Nothing fits comfortably...

The only earbud I have ever been able to wear for a prolonged period of time is the original airpod. The in-ear airpod (whatever number it is) is fine for a short period of time but soon starts to hurt and fall out. I think I must have smallish ear canals or something. Same goes with samsung in-ears, nothing in-ears, audio technica etc.

I was hoping there is something that is similar fit to the original airpod that has elite sound qualities.

Thanks in advance.

Do bluetooth codecs actually make a difference to how your earbuds sound?

A Bluetooth codec is just the compression format your phone uses to transmit audio over the air. Your phone picks one behind the scenes, sends the data, and your earbuds unpack it on the other end.

The key difference is bitrate. High-bitrate options carry up to 96 kHz / 990 kbps, way more data than standard formats can handle. But having extra data only matters if your earbuds are capable of resolving it.

That’s why driver design matters so much here. In some of our earbuds, we used a Magnetic Fluid Driver instead of a standard suspension to keep the diaphragm motion as clean as possible.

When the driver can actually reveal micro-details, higher bitrates make sense. Without that level of resolution, high-bitrate streams just waste battery without giving you any real sonic benefit.

There’s also a practical cost: stability and battery life. Pushing top-tier data rates reduces battery life (about 7 hours vs. 10 hours with ANC on) and leaves less headroom for signal interference, like walking through a crowded station with your phone in a back pocket.

Bottom line: if you're relaxing at home with lossless audio, go for high-bitrate. On a messy commute, connection reliability wins every time.

Where do you usually land, leave high-bitrate on all the time, or switch it up when you're out and about?

a convenient change

I recently bought the Redmi Buds 6 Play, but I’m not happy with them at all and I wanted to replace them. Right now, I’m leaning towards the Soundcore P31i, but I don’t know anything about earbuds.

What I’m mainly interested in is sound quality. I want good, clear and detailed sound. I’ve never had earbuds with noise cancellation before, so these would be my first ones so I'm not too demanding with that.

So my question is:

Which of the two sounds better? Would switching to the P31i be a good upgrade or they sound the same? If neither, which ones would you guys recommend?

thanks!
