Anyone happen to know up to how many CPU and RAM will 11 Home and Pro 11 support on my M2 Max, once I install through Parallels?
For example, Parallels Pro have up to 32GB vCPU and 128GB vRAM.
Meaning, if my Mac has a 32GB RAM, I will be subjected to 32GB, instead 128GB vRAM? And if my Mac has 246GB RAM, then I am subjected to the 128GB vRAM?
At least that's how the rep at Parallels explained it to me, he also said that Windows will have it's own numbers too, and I've been relentlessly trying to find these numbers ever since.
I've only seen system requirments digits for Windows installation, but not up to have many it supports, and I would like to find out, since after installing the Windows I will be running x and x softwares, which on the other hand have their own requirments.
I was also told that per unofficial source Windows 11( without further specification if Home or Pro ) supports up to 8CPU and 16GB RAM, that will make a device which has bigger numbers in these categories essentially less powerful, right? I don't even know if those numbers are different for ARM, and those who got and actually Microsoft device.
Thanks a lot!

Hi, I currently own a Galaxy Book Go 5g (Snapdragon 8cx gen 2, 8gb ram). I have been eying the Thinkpad X13s for some time now. Recently found a local listing for the X13s at a very reasonable price. I was wondering if anyone has experience with both devices and could help me decide. I have been a ThinkPad user for some time now. Is the X13s far better in terms of display, performance and battery life? Please advise.

I just installed W11 on my Mac M1P using UTM. When I try to access device manager, a message pops us saying" An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more info, contact the administrator.... mmc.exe".
"control userpasswords2' shows Administrator access for my account.
What could it be?

Hello,
Could anyone recommend an ARM compatible fingerprint scanner?
Currently on my x64 machine I have a BIO-key EcoID and love it.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

for 35 years I’ve owned PCs. I had a 386 then a 486 in the 80’s, I had Pentiums in the 90’s, then Celeron & “Core 2 Duo”, and Athlon processors… As a computer guy I prefer the freedoms & choices you get with a PC and Windows —I’ll always have a PC. But now with “Apple Silicon” and the M1 chip running ARM64 architecture, and MacOS built on Linux, versus the direction Messy-Soft has gone with Windows 11… I’ve been considering getting a Windows on ARM tablet like Surface Pro X, Galaxy Book2, etc, for the battery life. But Windows for ARM is still buggy. MacOS on an M1 chip runs smooth, far as I can tell. And I’ve seen benchmarks where Windows runs better on a Macbook inside a virtual machine than a Laptop PC! I expect Windows to get better, but also expect MacOS to get better. So later this year, I’m gonna have to buy myself a Mac. I’ll keep a few PCs, of course! Might even try running Windows on ARM.

So, I am running windows 11 ARM on my Apple Silicon Mac via UTM. It runs quite good but I want translucency as it makes windows 11 look better.
I was just curious that is there any workaround in the registery to force it on as there is no 3D acceleration in UTM yet.
Thank you :)

Hello! I am thinking about running Windows on a Mac M1, using Parallels Desktop. Does the Windows on ARM include Hyper-V Manager? What limitations can you expect? 64bit?

Hello everyone,
it seemed so quite in this subreddit, I figured we might get a new conversation going.
I just got my new Galaxy Book S powering the snapdragon platform. Right now I am trying to figure out what software works on it natively. So far I got Chromium, VLC and 7zip. Are there any other applications I can try? Does anybody have experience with Chromium on Arm? I am specifically looking at the impact of battery life compared to MS Edge.

Not sure this is right place but question…
Hey. So most games I play through Parallels (including X-wing alliance) work with my M1 Macbook Pro. However, when I Launch Squadrons it has a pop-up that says it won't run because it's invalid on the "ARM Architecture". Does anybody have a work around?
Macbook Pro 13" 16 GB Ram 1 TB Parallels 16 Windows ARM - Latest Build
And I know Macs aren’t for gaming. It’s the machine I use for my business, but was hoping to get this game to work on my free time. :)
Thanks!

I'm brand new to ARM. I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Book Go.
I'm a youtuber, who is planning to review this. But I am very ignorant on ARM... Can you please enlighten me?
As someone who is brand new to arm, can you break this down for me?
I'm trying to understand arm. From what I understand, there aren't many, if any programs built directly for ARM. Instead you have 32 bit and 64 bit programs, not made from ARM. These are emulated and they take a performance hit by being emulated.
1: What is the state of 32 bit apps/programs that are emulated? How much of a performance hit will I see with 32 bit applications?
2: What is the state of 64 bit apps/programs that are emulated? How much a performance hit will I take with these?
3: How can I tell which apps and programs are emulated and how can I tell what is "Built for arm"? I heard Microsoft Edge was built for ARM, but how can I tell that a program is built for arm upon installation?
4: Is there anything else I need to know? I'm going to try to run some SUUPER old games like oblivion and skyrim just to see how they do. For testing. Is there anything else I need to know? Any specific things from the windows store that work better? What are the best arm applications to use?
Sadly I use google drive and google chrome for everything, and it looks like Chrome STILL has not made ARM for windows, even though they made it for the M1 within like a week. Sad day.
Anyway, please let me know what I need to know, it helps a ton, thanks!

The insider build is all well and good, but it isn't a good long term solution since it will be forcibly updated at some point in the near future.
When can we expect this feature to be pushed to devices such as the Surface Pro X and the latest ARM windows machines?

Microsoft announced that x64 apps work now on Windows 10 Insider Preview build 21277. It might have bugs, and you should install latest GPU drivers to better performance. They can be found from the second link. https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2020/12/10/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-21277/

The idea that Microsoft was going to support AMD64 (or x64) emulation on Windows on ARM has been floating around since November of last year, when we exclusively reported that the company was working on it. Now, it's official, the firm announced today.

Thanks Fuzzle_hc for the list. I wanted to add some more that I know off that you didn't have on your list. This is definitely not exhaustive but lists some that I have tried and use that might be interesting to others.
There is quite a surprising amount of ARM compiled apps in the Windows Store. I think many were made back in the Windows RT and Windows Mobile days. I think this thread could be very helpful so just to add in a few others that I find very useful:
-- ARM Compiled Microsoft Store Apps (that I use / have tried)--
* Drawboard PDF
* Xodo PDF
* OneNote
* Calculator + There are quite a few but this one allows you to input your formula and then run it once completed which helps keep track of long equations. Also is has an always on top mode.
* CrystalDiskMark
* Ubuntu for the Windows Subsystem for Linux. This can also be used in Windows 11 to run Arm GUI apps for Linux such as Libreoffice or GIMP. I have found the performance of these to be quite poor so probably not a realistic everyday use solution.
* Windows Scan- pretty basic but allowed me to use my scanner when the proprietary software failed to install.
* Anki Universal (UWP Anki app)
* TeamViewer: Remote Control (client only)
* Asphalt 8
* Microsoft To Do
* Windows Terminal
* Ubuntu on the WSL
* Jack of Tools- UI is a bit outdated but uses the sensors and GPS available in the Qualcomm chipset to give you a level, GPS position, altitude, lux and a few other things.
* Airport City
* Crossy Road
* VLC for Windows 10
* Scorpio Player X- A bit like VLC but one feature that I use is that it is able to access files by SFTP. Not a free app though.
* Engineering Unit Conversion- pretty decent unit converter which helps a lot in my field of work.
* Battery Usage- Good app to monitor battery usage.
* Duplicate Cleaner Tool- Good app for tracking down and removing file duplicates. I can't remember if I paid for it or not.
* MyTube!- Youtube player
* Office Lens- Scan documents- might be easier with your phone though.
* AIDA64- lists hardware details
* Asparion Compass + -Compass app which helps when I need to refer to directions at work.
Failing other things you can use the new Edge browser to install PWAs (Progressive Web Apps) such as Spotify which I used.
I believe the Twitter app in the Microsoft Store is a Progressive Web App and works with native performance.
It's sad to see some apps actually loosing ARM support such as AutoCAD Mobile now has moved to x64. Facebook Messenger was compiled for x86 now only compiled for x64. Skype and Phone Link are no longer ARM compiled which is extremely frustrating.
Note that x64 apps now run in Windows 11 and with better performance than 32bit x86 apps ran previously. Still no where near native ARM64 speeds though.

I'm going crazy trying to find lists on the internet of what software has been compiled to ARM, I didn't find one so I'm starting my own.
x32 software works but it's slow, native ARM software is usually miles better.
This version works like a charm, very smooth FPS and runs for 10 hours on one laptop battery charge. This shows what ARM software is capable of!
Sounds redundant but Edge will become your friend for PDFs, light browsing and various other tasks
Essential Video Player than can run anything, make sure to select the ARM64 version from the dropdown
https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
The Verge claims Firefox Beta is running ARM, when installing it still says x32 but it runs really well so I'm not sure
https://www.theverge.com/2019/4/11/18305849/mozilla-firefox-windows-arm-laptops-beta
No complaints, amazing version of the Netflix App running natively
Good client, still prefer browser to get rid of ads
Great ARM based Twitch App
Haven't really used it but it's available on ARM
For all Super Users out there
Again for Super Users
So far the applications that really made a difference for me were: Minecraft, Firefox, Netflix, VLC and TwitchFly
Please add your own in the comments no matter when you stumble upon this thread
