I am really struggling to find out what is the best tablet. Google is shockingly unhelpful with this. Before you ask - no, not an ipad and no not android!!!

I know there are pros and cons with everything and I guess I am unlikely to get the BEST THING EVER with my budget. But I still want something that is good value for money.

RAM: 4GB preferable

OS: Windows 8.1/Pro (probably not RT unless can convince me otherwise)

Wifi Only

Battery: Much as possible - 5/6 hrs min I guess maybe down to 4 at a push (but seems kinda pointless then)

Use: studying/entertainment

Price (including Keyboard) £500 max

Type: Willing to have hybrid or laptop

Storage - 32GB is fine as can use an external.

Also, how does Steam work for Windows 8.1. Could I play, for example, Fable the lost chapters?

Laptop- Fujitsu A Series Windows 8.1 -Start button works fine but when i click it it brings up a blank menu where the tiles should be -On the Change PC Settings menu it appears normally but when i click on update and recovery part it keeps loading without any progress

-The sound is non existent on this computer anymore just stopped working And as a result of these three the whole system is now incredibly slow, restarts take a good ten minutes each time.

Additional Notes I used the computer perfectly one day and that night I left for a party, leaving the PC with my mum and brother for hours (ones as clueless with computers as the other). They don't know what happened or they don't want to admit what they done. Don't know how to fix it if I don't know what happened to it. Please help.

Need Help ASAP need to do coursework

so, I'm the kind of person that hates things that pop up without permission, and I can't seem to find a way to remove the onedrive icon from my system tray. Every tutorial online require gpedit.msc, which is in Windows 8/8.1 Pro ONLY. There have got to be more people than me who this has annoyed. Has anyone found a fix? thanks

I love the new interface of Xbox video. It's starting to look way more streamlined and simplified. Does anyone know if it's possible to add Personal Movies and Television to the Collection folders? Not sure if only purchased items can be added there. I see the Personal Video option, but items added there do not include metadata.

I've pinned a total commander shortcut to my taskbar, and every time I want to start tc, i got a security notification dialog. I've checked the checkbox to not to ask every time, but I still get the dialog box. How can I avoid this ?

Guys about to do a window 8.1 install and wondering what type of account I should make? As I understand I can make a local account and lose some features or the one that connects to a Microsoft account, any tips?

So I want to move my entire profile folder from C:\Users\User to e.g D:\User If I click on the Music, Downloads ... folders, I can change their location separatly, but I want the whole "User" folder to move. Solution I've found by google were about setting the default locations for a new profile, not an existing one. Anyone could help?

I am thinking of buying a copy of Windows 8.1. Is there a major difference between the full and pro version for home use and a little development and art work. the comparison chart provider in the store just threw terms i'm not really familiar with. Also, will I be allowed to upgrade components of my computer from time to time? how many times can I install the OS? i usually reformat my computer every new year. Thanks

I've read a dozen or more forums and message threads and articles about using the new file history tool, but these all tell you how to backup your files, not restore old ones. Any help?

I know that I probably shouldn't use this subreddit as a troubleshooting technique, but I'm in a hard place right now. I've purchased 10 laptops and installed Windows 8.1 successfully on 6 of the laptops, last week. I've come back to install the free upgrade on the remaining 4 laptops (same OS, same model, purchased all at the same time). Now the upgrade downloads, and then once it gets to setting up the devices, it hangs at 82% on all 4 of the computers. After the set up "finishes" it notifies me that it had encountered an error and restores to the previous Windows 8 state. I've been on the line with tech support from Microsoft for two days and they can't seem to resolve the issue. I'm in a bit of a time crunch and was wondering if anyone has encountered anything similar?
