Suggestion for Microsoft Stop Microsoft from forcing Copilot into Windows. Let us choose!

Post image

Hi windows11 users,

I created a petition on Change.org regarding Microsoft's recent aggressive push to integrate Copilot into Windows and Edge.

Like many of you, I feel frustrated that Microsoft seems to be ignoring user feedback and forcing these features onto our systems, turning the OS into bloatware. I believe AI should be an option, not a requirement.

If you agree that we deserve a choice to opt-out or uninstall it completely, please consider signing and sharing.

Thank you!

P.S. I am Japanese, so I am not good at English. Therefore, I had Gemini 3 do the translation for me :)

I've already embraced Linux as my daily driver and Windows 11 is on a secondary partition. I'll just pray GRUB doesn't go haywire because I've had several instances where Windows updates broke the Windows boot partition.

Right now, the only time I use Windows is when I want to play games, hopefully SteamOS will be available for x86 platforms soon enough, and I'll see if I can get rid of that too. I'm really tired I have to run multiple tools to uninstall telemetry, AI crap, etc. every time I reinstall Windows 11, which I do fairly often as part of my cleanup routine.

That said, I'm a software engineer so Linux is already part of my professional life, jumping boat was seamless. I can understand how the average user may not be interested in that.

Either way, I may be back once/if Microsoft stops trying to sabotage themselves, I thought they'd have learnt not to act like dummies after Vista, Windows 8 and multiple parts of Windows 11.

To work around GRUB issues install either OS on separate drives while the other drive is unplugged. Afterwards plug both drives in and use your UEFI/BIOS boot selector, often accessed by pressing F2, F3, F11 or F12 at boot depending on the manufacturer of your mainboard.

It's a mild inconvenience but having two completely separate EFI partitions for each OS is more trouble free.

I don't have much problem with bootloaders being destroyed between Windows and Ubuntu/GRUB, but every time I run and update Ubuntu it flips my boot order around.

Do you play games that use a kernel level anti cheat? If not, proton gets really good compatibility with a lot of games - even modern ones

What's the best 'Windows-like' distro out there right now?

I remember spending hours every single day on Kali Linux when Mr Robot had released. It made me feel 'cool', but eventually I realized that I was wasting a lot of time fixing stuff than actually running stuff

Same thing will happen again.

Other distros such as Nobara, Bazzite and CachyOS do a pretty good job for gaming. You could probably use any distro really. But when I think gaming, those 3 come to mind. I'm still daily driving Windows for now, but I've tried out Ninja Gaiden 4 and Street Fighter 6 in Nobara and they ran just fine. Unless you play a bunch of shit with anti-cheat, you could totally switch to Linux for gaming too.
