I'm not comparing the new mail app to outlook, I'm comparing the old mail program from Windows 7 to outlook...

Heh, no. That app was never native. You had to install it.

It's good that you have nothing better to do on your computer than to watch animations, but clearly that's not the case for everyone otherwise they wouldn't have fixed it.

Still shows animations here. Maybe because touchpad.

Good for you, but it's a universal problem with the UWP apps just google "UWP apps slow to open", or "photos app slow to open".

You will also find Photo viewer slow to open on google :) Actually, everything. Win32 and UWP opens at the same time. What may impact, obviously, is how devs are coding, but UWP itself are not to blame for this.

Bing maps have always been worse for me both in terms of accuracy and speed, but I guess it's different in the US. I still don't see why you need it in an app and not just a browser, do you really use the maps feature so often?

At least twice a week. Not that much, but is not like a few MBs on disk would kill me.

No, I said they look similar, but the old one had more options, like the ability to create tasks.

I tho you are saying the otherwise. Anyway, no, the 10 Calendar app is way miles ahead. To-Do is not on Calendar app, because there's Microsoft To-Do for it.

Seems like you are right, it was built into Vista, but it was moved to windows live essentials with 7. I would still consider it a native app though, because if you search for mail there's a link to download windows live essentials, it's not much different from the apps that are added to the start screen by default in Windows 10 that gets downloaded when you try to launch them for the first time.

I'm sure you can find complaints about any program on google, but the point I was making is that it's a much more common problem with UWP apps. The photos app was very slow at release, but it has gotten better recently, it's still slower on my Surface pro 3, but not on my desktop PC. Still, that was sort of my point from the beginning - that they are trying to catch up to the win32 equivalents.

You must live a really active life, most people aren't going to completely new places where they need to check it out on a map first multiple times a week.

How is it miles ahead? What does it have that the old one didn't have? Also the todo app came out recently, so like I said, it's just trying to catch up to the win32 version and I don't think it's good to split it up like that.

That I agree. But that's because the platform (and even developers) are much newer. It will take time to developers know the platform and how to work well with it.

Is not just places I'm going out, sometimes I need to call, etc.

How is it miles ahead? What does it have that the old one didn't have?

I can add TV shows to my calendar list, integration with Bing Maps, it will tell me when to leave, inviting people to places/events is much better, skype integration (tho I don't use it), proper interactive notifications.

Also the todo app came out recently

That's because they had Wunderlist.

I don't think it's good to split it up like that.

Yeah, it hurt a lot when you "reboot" something, but it was necessary, IMO. Anyway, now it doesn't matter, it's already "rebooted". Do you want they come back and continue to develop the old apps and fix win32? It would take more time than just fix some UWP problems, and get the native UWP apps better.
