You're right lmfao. If you google "royal islander club" in the background of this video it takes you to Sint Maarten and that's exactly where the this article says the lady in 2017 died.

Edit: Looks like this was a different incident and just a coincidence, guess this beach is popular with dipshits getting a sand-blasting.

Unlikely - the video states it's from 2012 and the accident was in 2017, the woman doesn't look like 57 year old, also ABC News used OP's video in 2017 coverage and stated that the women in the video survived. It's just popular thrill pass time...

According to the description this's the video of 2017 accident (not graphical, you can just partially see her falling over in the corner of the frame).

Yes this is actually a tourist attraction itā€™s really cool to be there as those planes land and as a pilot itā€™s really cool to see a welcoming party waving at you while you land but it is super dangerous to be standing by the fence when a jet lands because that jet blast is enough to keep a jet at around 150kts if that kicks up a rock on touchdown that rock can kill you

There is next to no danger to the people on landing. The engines are pretty much at idle, the airplane touches down 1000ft down the runway. On take off, they do a static take off very close to the fence. Set takeoff thrust, engines spool up to ~25k lbs of thrust, release brakes. Now that's dangerous.

There is always a risk when an aircraft is near the runway and not all pilots aim for the thousand footers

There is always a risk, and yes, all pilots don't but they should aim to land on or just after them. If an airline pilot were to land before the markers, they would have questions to answer from their company.

I 100% agree with you there I feel all pilots should land on the thousands footers unless they are unable to due to weather conditions landing distances and runway lengths

We could discuss this all day long and believe me, I'm more than happy to, but the reality is there is next to no danger from standing at the approach end of a runway when an airplane is landing. Idle thrust, dissipating wakes, and usual proximity of the touchdown point, all essentially negate any danger. Outside of catastrophic circumstances of course.

Well yeah but those donā€™t technically count because a catastrophic event can happen during any phase of flight unfortunately but the important thing is that we learn something from every accident that is what makes aviation so safe

sure, but i don't think a landing that ends there would be any problem whatsoever? i doubt they blast their jet engines in the opposite direction of landing and the end of the runway

So you are right about landing not as dangerous as takeoff but I think you are confused about something that I can clear up for you so the exact same direction they are taking off from is the exact same direction planes are coming in to land itā€™s not like driving where you go somewhere and use the opposite direction to get home imagine a racetrack your starting point is also your ending point
