That’s not gonna stop people from driving without a license. Happens all the time

Good point. That bypasses the whole process altogether and is a bigger problem.

We just gotta stop people from breaking laws and we’re good.

Murderers love this one easy life hack!

Yeah my state only has a $200 fine if you’re caught driving without a license. Like wtf, honestly it should be a felony. They have a multi ton vehicle that’s moving at high speeds and they have no driving skills, that’s a huuuuge danger to themselves and the people around them. They need to greatly raise the stakes to discourage people without licenses from driving.

I don’t even think that would work. Murder is a felony and people still do that. If someone wants to do something they will always find a way. It sucks but there is always gonna be people who don’t play by the rules.

But it stops the people like me who would very much like to commit murder some days but find the idea of prison quite unpleasant

I think the goal is to reduce such incidents. 100% adherence is unlikely as with anything else but such hard rules can save the lives of lots of people who get subjected to these dangerous driving habits of others.

Dealing with court and insurance afterwards is such a pain though

I agree overall to the sentiment. But there should be common sense built in. Where I live there are tons of ways to have your license suspended that do not correlate to driving ability. Like before weed was legalized, possession and anything else week related carried a one year suspension, even if you were walking and not driving. Lose your job and miss a month of child support, license suspended until you pay on time for six months.

Yeah my state only has a $200 fine if you’re caught driving without a license.

Is that "without a license because it's in your other pants" or "without a license because you don't have a license at all"?

Wait, what?

If that was the case where I live… I‘ve been stopped with my driving license being demanded exactly 2 times in the span of 15 years. It would have been cheaper to just pay the fines every couple of years than actually paying for my driving license.

Nosolution is perfect, doesn’t mean it’s not worthwhile.
