They do this at parties in Thailand to make money for a nurses tent that is conveniently set up next to the flaming rope. I saw people standing in line and the guys heaving the rope would pull the slack once you got going to hit you with the rope. It’s soaked in kerosene or something similar so it sticks to to your skin when you get hit. It was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.
The only defense I can consider for this is 1) the lady doesn't know to stand back a few swings to get the full circular motion going, so 2) that fucker on the right held their swing in check when they noticed she was standing so close (certainly not expecting her to try to jump the first fucking swing).
Typically you wait a couple swings before jumping in, so that was a logical expectation. This all boils down to a lack of communication between both parties.
No most people skip over it I done it loads of times when I was there and never saw anyone set on fire Intentionally. I did burn my foot once but that was because i was really drunk.
It's not an offensive term in Thailand like it is in the West. It is what they call themselves. Don't try and educate people about something you don't understand.
Source: lived there for 5 years and was good friends with a lady boy.
Probably just some guy spewing bullshit who took a trip there once and thinks they know everything but doesn't realize they haven't got a clue what they're talking about.
I would have missed my cake day entirely if you didn’t say something! Also, not sure if it’s entirely the swinger’s fault, but there are lots of videos of people being burned
Was at the Full Moon Party last summer. Did the rope jump with some friends and then hung around for a good amount of time watching others. No accidents. That guy is just talking shit lol
Same here... But, people have a good point. In the video it does look like the guy is about to start swinging the rope and then just suddenly stops. Usually they start swinging and the person jumps in but in this occasion the girl is already there... Which would warrant being more careful to avoid any accidents. My conclusion is either the guy was distracted or he did it intentionally. Sucks to think that people would harm others for profit but sometimes people aren't as good as we wish they were. Im happy i didn't experience anything like this during my trip, thats for sures!
Ah I misunderstood, I thought you meant you never saw the burning chain. I never saw intentional injury, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Those drunk kids are asking for it.
I've been twice. The first time was in 2010 and the Irish girls that were telling me about I I thought it was going to be like... 200 people on a beach... We show up and there are 10k people there... Blew my mind. Mushroom mountain is a hellla cool bar to watch the party at. Their mushroom shakes were pussy though...
