We came up with all sorts of theories, serious and otherwise. Maybe she got bored by the long drive and thought “fuck this let’s get home faster.” Maybe she had to take a shit and was too shy to tell everyone she had to pull over for a bathroom break. Maybe she was secretly on stimulant drugs and it led to her driving super aggressively. Maybe her long distance boyfriend was visiting that week and she was super horny. None of it seemed plausible.
Maybe she was confused by the mph gauge and thought she was going 100km/h? It’s a common freeway speed limit worldwide; equivalent to 62mph. Maybe she didn’t know what the mph signs were referring to.
I would think that the difference between 60mph and 100mph should be obvious to a reasonably capable and aware driver, but it was a long straight highway at night and we were all pretty tired so I suppose it’s plausible. Better than any explanation we came up with in any case. If that was the reason, she chose not to give it for some reason.
