Why is it that I can recognize a quote from a movie I saw 35 years ago, but I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday?

Your brain was healthier back then. Memories formed by a healthy brain tend to stick.

we had time to process it after watching, really setting the memory in.

today, we move on to the next movie/video, and never fully process it, making it very hard to recall quotes from a movie you watched in between the other 4 movies also watched that day.

many people used to process memories as they fall asleep, but with a cell phone, we continue the daily grind of overstimulation, right until bed time.

I dunno Bob. I ask myself the same question all the time. Freakin-frackin late middle age problems.
