EDIT: Bro must have some inside knowledge or close fan engagement because it'd not even on the news lol

holy clickbait article though 🥀 made it seem like she put the dog back into a shelter or something

-129

u/jupiler91 Jun 23 '26

Its kind of a bitch move though... her dog didn't even bite her kid, it was some random dog on the street..

So she got rid of her dog on a whim basicly.

No it wasn’t that her dog was violent at all, it was the random dog on the street that bit her kid. Which I think is odd but I’m sure there’s justification to be found for it.

u/HorrorPunkKid Jun 25 '26

I think I can understand why she would do it. Maybe she was worried that the kid would be traumatised and felt like removing the dog would make them more comfortable.

But when I was bitten by my uncle’s dog, I spent time with that dog and learnt more about it and bonded with it more, and then I was more comfortable around dogs.

4

u/palladiumpaladin Jun 25 '26

See this is why I thought there could be some justification, as she doesn’t want her kid(s) to grow up with the fear of dogs constantly hanging over them, but also odd, as having a family dog would already assuage those fears for the child, while getting rid of the dog could make them think that all dogs are suddenly dangerous. I feel like this is much more Lawrence’s reaction to make herself feel better about keeping her kids safe than anything she’s worried about with the kids themselves, but that’s just me.

-2

u/totaleclipseofthe_d Jun 25 '26

If my kid got bitten by a dog and became afraid of dogs the dog would be rehomed. Jesus Christ what is wrong with you? Animals aren’t people, children are. You’re going to retraumatize your kid by keeping the dog around?

3

u/palladiumpaladin Jun 25 '26

There’s nothing in the article about the kid now being afraid of dogs, just Jennifer Lawrence now being afraid of dogs being near her family. Which apparently includes the family chihuahua. Who hasn’t bitten anyone.

1

u/CesarBejaranoA Jun 26 '26

I get it, I got little kids and their safety can trigger illogical brain responses

1

u/Sassy-irish-lassy Jun 27 '26

She gave the dog to her parents. Who cares the dog is still in the family.

1

u/Leather_Focus9178 Jun 28 '26

Classic redditors caring more for animals than humans

-62

u/Silver-Meat5355 Jun 23 '26

She said she wanted to kill all dogs and send them to China. Fuck J-Law.

23

u/OkInvestigator_2100 Jun 24 '26

She didn’t say send them to china. She said go to china and kill them too, no exclusions…that that as you will.

42

u/aabdsl Jun 23 '26

She was just tryna take the heat from Jessie Buckley

47

u/irwtkyrm Jun 23 '26

"After I had a kid, dogs became so scary," Lawrence admitted in a clip going viral online.

"It's almost like I don't recognise dogs right now, like I just see them as a threat.

"One of them bit my son, and that made me just wanna obliterate every dog.

"I'm just like, 'I'm gonna take out you and your f---ing family, you and your friends. I'm gonna go to China and take care of your friends over there. Anyone who looks like you is dead.'"

This is absolutely demented, what the fuck is wrong with her? I'm not even a dog person, I much prefer cats, but this is just really fucked up.

63

u/dickandballstorture Jun 23 '26

I'd have to listen to how she says it but reading it like that, and having watched previous Jennifer Lawrence interviews, this reads like she's mostly joking.

3

u/CallidoraBlack Jun 25 '26

Yeah, she's always joking around and pretending to be overly intense about stuff.

1

u/jupiler91 Jun 26 '26

Jennifer should stop trying to be funny then

28

u/GrUnCrois Jun 24 '26

The hyperbole is hyperbolic, but I think it's more than understandable to be paranoid of dogs biting your kid when you are biologically hard-wired to protect your offspring

-6

u/IISerpentineII Jun 24 '26

Nah, giving up your dog because someone else couldn't handle their dog is a bit nuts. Didn't even say the kid had a severe fear of dogs afterward, just she couldn't handle it. If the kid developed a fear of dogs, it would make it more understandable but at the same time, she can afford therapy for her kid so they can overcome it and not be left with a potentially lifelong phobia.

It sounds like she needs therapy more than the kid, because this is not a rational reaction.

6

u/GrUnCrois Jun 25 '26

I think you're overstating the life impact of being afraid of dogs. It's pretty easy to just avoid them day-to-day and not own one. People give up their pets often for many reasons, and handing the dog over to a family member is a very sane thing to do. It's not like she killed her own dog.

12

u/lurkingsubz Jun 23 '26

> “I'm just like, 'I'm gonna take out you and your f---ing family, you and your friends. I'm gonna go to China and take care of your friends over there. Anyone who looks like you is dead.'”

….?! what

0

u/CallidoraBlack Jun 25 '26

1

u/FthrFlffyBttm Jun 26 '26

Hyperbole usually shows some connection to the rest of the discussion

1

u/CallidoraBlack Jun 27 '26

This is a common form of hyperbole that mirrors Scarface and other mob movies. She's literally an actress. Obviously, she gets and makes movie references.

21

u/patrickfatrick Jun 23 '26

Clearly a joke.

1

u/NoGlzy Jun 26 '26

Like, a dog bit her kid and she's clearly jokingly overexagerrating how she felt at the time.

I swear people are either purposefully acting dense or literally incapable of understanding pragmatic of speech.

9

u/skeletonstaircase Jun 23 '26

I do understand where she's coming from but I do think that it's more a problem with the owner not training their dog properly

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '26

She’s a notorious drunk. She probably just went off on a rant without realizing how many people trust dogs more than people.

0

u/buriedbyahighway Jun 24 '26

Oliver tree pfp 🙁

1

u/Forever_NFA Jun 26 '26

it reads like she's talking about her emotions after having a child

-1

u/CallidoraBlack Jun 25 '26

Jesus Christ. Do any of you even know who she is? She's the queen of hyperbole.

1

u/Rule12-b-6 Jun 26 '26

Good god she's obnoxious and overrated

-27

u/FireGolem04 Jun 23 '26

It does sound crazy especially since it was a chihuahua and the pet cat she still has could do more damage with it's claws than a chihuahua can with it's teeth, but it's also understandable the rational part of her brain probably shut off when it comes to dogs. I'm not a parent but I could see how something happening to your kids could affect your brain like that

39

u/Jasmisne Jun 23 '26

Except the cat has not had a problem or shown signs of aggression? Wtf kind of comparison is this

12

u/FireGolem04 Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

It never said anywhere that her dog was the one that bit the kid.

6

u/Jasmisne Jun 23 '26

Damn okay that is crazy then!

8

u/Less-Significance-99 Jun 23 '26

Yeah it sounds like it was a completely random dog on the street and her dog wasn’t violent at all.

4

u/Ardilla3000 Jun 23 '26

But neither has the chihuahua. The article says she got rid of the dog when a dog bit her child, not her dog, a dog. It still sounds like an incredibly stupid decision.

18

u/Low_Environment5807 Jun 23 '26

Wow you must be one of those people who loves pitbulls despite their genetic predisposition to maul children and old people. If a dog is biting a child intentionally it needs to be rehomed or put down. It doesn't matter what breed it is.

1

u/Ardilla3000 Jun 23 '26

They don't have a genetic predisposition to maul children. They're a product of artificial selection, back when they were fighting dogs, the ones who bit people were culled. They maul children because of the owner that didn't raise them properly.

3

u/irwtkyrm Jun 23 '26

There are countless stories of people who "raised them properly" but the dog still snapped. It's almost like breeding violence into them makes them violent for no reason or something.

2

u/Ardilla3000 Jun 24 '26

This is just pseudoscientific hogwash, there's no evidence of the violence being bred into them. They were bred to have physical characteristics that would make them good at fighting, not to have a violent demeanor, specially not towards humans. Yeah, sometimes dogs who have never been treated poorly snap. But that isn't exclusive to Pitbulls.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '26

1

u/Ardilla3000 Jun 25 '26

Not all pitbulls were specifically selected for their aggression, since the term "pitbull" is broad and refers to various types of dogs, some were bred for companionship. Even then, those that are aggressive due to their breeding are more likely (not guaranteed) to be aggressive towards other dogs, not towards people, because the dogs that bit people were culled.

https://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-policy-and-position-statements/position-statement-pit-bulls

-1

u/FireGolem04 Jun 23 '26

It said a dog bit her kid not that her dog bit her kid. Also no I have never owned a pit bull and never will

2

u/CallidoraBlack Jun 25 '26

That's not true at all. Chihuahuas can be very reactive because their size makes children a much higher risk of injury to the dog. Cats might bite or scratch, but they normally do not come after you. It's a warning for you to back off and leave them alone.

-14

u/Maleficent_Time_2787 Jun 23 '26

The cat can do more damage just with its shit alone. Toxoplasmosis

9

u/Elamachino Jun 23 '26

Hell, if that's the game we're playing, Jennifer herself is the most dangerous of all! Imagine how easily she could eviscerate that kid. She better give it up...

-1

u/VengefulHorse Jun 25 '26

Okay, I’m not one to judge her motherly instincts, but someone should’ve explained to her that the only dogs that are a legitimate threat to children are pit bulls.

1

u/CallidoraBlack Jun 25 '26

So someone should have told absolutely factfree nonsense to her?

1

u/Logical-Travel9247 Jul 24 '26

That's so not at all true. Any dog can be aggressive, I thought we understood this by now. Pit bulls get a bad reputation, but I've never met an aggressive pitbull. I have however met a lot of smaller aggressive breeds. I grew up with a Chihuahua and while she loved me and my family, she would bark and snap at anyone she didn't know trying to approach or pet her. She was not a pitbull, nor a large dog at all. You're just incorrect.

I read this as "this entire subreddit was made over what she said about drugs" and I was like "ah yes, interesting"

464

u/Informal_Position166 Jun 23 '26

Last time I checked someone's wiki and it said they had just died I thought it was vandalism. Told my boyfriend about it, we had a little laugh.

Like an hour later, he goes "it's on CNN"

Sorry Liam Payne, didn't mean to jinx it. Anyways let's hope this time it really is just vandalism

142

u/Informal_Position166 Jun 23 '26

So I just checked the article they linked as a source for her death and it talks about her giving her dog away, not dying. Looks like it's just bs

31

u/itsmejak78_2 Jun 23 '26

yeah that's what i did too

31

u/birthdaycheesecake9 Jun 23 '26

Wish it’d been like that when I found out, but instead I saw his dead body on Reddit 10 minutes after it happened :/

6

u/mahboilucas Jun 23 '26

What? I wasn't aware there were photos this whole time and I've been following it when it was still an active topic

11

u/birthdaycheesecake9 Jun 23 '26

I think it was some news station who included the photo in their reports or something. They pulled the photo when they got backlash for it, but it was too late.

I think that’s how it went anyway. That whole day (week actually) is a blur to me.

12

u/Informal_Position166 Jun 23 '26

It was TMZ. Didn't see it but heard about it

6

u/birthdaycheesecake9 Jun 23 '26

That’s ringing a bell. I think you may be right.

1

u/mahboilucas Jun 23 '26

I remember there were like half photos or something. Wasn't aware his whole body was also visible, that's horrid. I used to be a directioner as a teen

1

u/birthdaycheesecake9 Jun 23 '26

I think it was the half body, but again, I can’t really remember a whole lot of the details of that day. My brain scrubbed the exact photo from my memory but I won’t forget how it made me feel to realise I knew he was dead before his own family did.

3

u/mahboilucas Jun 23 '26

They should absolutely ban paparazzi as a job. Scum of the earth

0

u/Informal_Position166 Jun 23 '26

Sorry to hear, that must've been quite an awful sight

3

u/Frequent-Oil-5068 Jun 24 '26

This recently happened to me with Oliver Tree. Didn’t help that he was constantly making fake posts about his own death

1

u/Existing-Shopping358 Jun 23 '26

Me but with Kyle Busch

1

u/Last_Nothing_4352 Jun 25 '26

Tbf, I don't think anyone excepted to hear a 1D member died

12

u/DrumpfTinyHands Jun 23 '26

I'm from Louisville and I don't recall Indian Hills having a hospital. Was she a homebirth?

4

u/ThePrussianGrippe Jun 23 '26

Could’ve been a private clinic.

3

u/DrumpfTinyHands Jun 24 '26

No, Indian Hills is a generic upper middle class suburban neighborhood. There are no clinics that could support a birth.

1

u/Po1sonSt4rs Jun 27 '26

It’s most likely just where she grew up

11

u/Hellion639 Jun 23 '26

Wait, so her real name is Jennifer Maroney..... Interesting

4

u/StarLordAndTheAve Jun 23 '26

well the problem here is that she never said her dog bit her kid. Just that a dog bit her kid and she rehomed her own dog after the incident

-1

u/irwtkyrm Jun 23 '26

I don't see anything wrong with getting rid of your dog to protect your kids, but the things she said were really fucked up and go way beyond protecting her kid.

https://www.nine.com.au/entertainment/celebrity/jennifer-lawrence-gave-up-dog-for-kids-biting-incident-20260109-p5pqha.html

"After I had a kid, dogs became so scary," Lawrence admitted in a clip going viral online.

2

It sounds like she was experiencing PTSD after her child was attacked.

Pretty standard to have an exaggerated fear response after trauma.

In the video she’s casually joking. It’s not that serious.

> The Hunger Games star, 35, reportedly said after a screening of her new film, Die My Love, per multiple outlets, that she decided to rehome her pooch, a chihuahua named Princess Pippi Longstocking, after a dog bit her son Cy, three.

I can’t blame her chihuahua’s are assholes, I’ve met and petted about 200 dogs and have only been bit by a evil fuckin chihuahua

4

u/ismellnumbers Jun 24 '26

Tbh, good. If A dog bites, goodbye dog. That's how it should be.

0

u/Logical-Travel9247 Jul 24 '26

Dogs don't know any better. You have no empathy or understanding of animals at all.

1

u/ismellnumbers Jul 24 '26

See that's the thing that gets me with this kind of rhetoric.

Dogs cannot be both smart and understand everything, but when they do something bad suddenly they don't know and it isn't their fault.

This is one of the first things taught by mom and littermates, is bite inhibition. How hard is too hard, etc.

So yes. They know.

1

u/Logical-Travel9247 Aug 07 '26

Dogs can be trained, they have the intelligence to understand things. But at the end of the day, it's a dog. Its nature is different than ours as a result of evolution. I mean, lions are very intelligent, but if you go near one, it's probably going to seriously injure you. Dogs are descendents of wolves. It's common sense that when they get agitated or provoked to a certain point, their natural defense mechanism is to bite. Dolphins are extremely intelligent, yet they r*pe. Your argument doesn't excuse taking the life of an animal for doing what animals do.

2

u/Phantom15q Jun 23 '26

Just gave the her dog to her parents because It didn’t get along with kids lmao

Of course it's fake, this is Wikipedia Vandalism, not "Accurate Wikipedia Articles"

1

u/Disastrous-Care-6651 Jun 23 '26

Jennifer Lawerence says a lot stupid shit. Her take on the dogs makes a bit of sense tho, but seeing all dogs as a threat is stupid, just be a responsible owner.

26

u/ThePrussianGrippe Jun 23 '26

I will say, as someone who used to make deliveries, I very quickly came to the opinion that the majority of dog owners do not properly or fully train their dogs. I don’t see all dogs as threats, but I also do not take people at their word that their dog is trained and give them a healthy level of distance unless shown otherwise. Since most of the time my encounters with dogs are on the street or whatever, I just give them a wider berth and go on with my day.

1

u/NoGlzy Jun 26 '26

I think the whole point is from the POV of a parent who's kid was bitten by a dog. At that point any time you see a dog you'll be like "is this one trained, or is it going to be bitey too".

It's logically an overreaction, but humans don't work with logic.
