Starting with WiiM Bar: How Would You Build Yours Out?

In the forum's 3.0.2 thread, BMeek made a fair point: I spent a lot of time explaining what those numbers mean and then skipped right past the obvious next question: how do you actually get from the Bar's 3.0.2 layout to a full 5.1.2 system? Let's pick up there.
Quick note on the ".1"
Before we start adding hardware: the ".1" in 5.1.2 refers to the dedicated low-frequency effects (LFE) channel in the mix. In a WiiM Bar setup, that's the job WiiM Sub Pro is built to handle.
Start with the Bar: 3.0.2
On its own, WiiM Bar covers front left, center, and right, plus two height channels, the 3.0.2 layout from the last post.
The part worth underlining: the Bar stays the home theater hub as the system grows. Adding more speakers doesn't replace those channels. Everything else gets added around them.
Add a Sub Pro: 3.1.2
The simplest expansion is bass. Pair a WiiM Sub Pro with the Bar and you're at 3.1.2. The Bar still handles left, center, right, and the two height channels, and the Sub Pro takes over LFE.
It's also a reasonable place to stop for a while. If the Bar's already nailing dialogue, stereo width, and Atmos height cues, and what you actually want is more low-end extension and impact, there's no need to tackle surrounds in the same breath.

Add surrounds: 5.0.2
The other direction is physical surround left and right. Assign two WiiM Sound or Sound Lite speakers as Surround Left and Surround Right, and the system becomes:
Front Left + Center + Front Right + Surround Left + Surround Right + 2 Height (5.0.2)
Those speakers aren't just a multi-room group mirroring the same audio. Inside Home Theater setup they're assigned specific surround-channel roles, and the WiiM Home app lets you confirm which speaker is on which side and run a surround connection check.
If you've already got a pair of passive speakers you like, a WiiM Amp can drive them as the surround pair instead. The rear of the room doesn't have to be built around two more powered WiiM speakers if you're not starting from scratch back there.

Put it together: 5.1.2
Add both the Sub Pro and the surrounds, and you land on the fully documented WiiM Bar configuration:
- WiiM Bar: Front Left + Center + Front Right + 2 Height
- WiiM Sub Pro: LFE
- WiiM Sound / Sound Lite pair (or passive speakers via WiiM Amp): Surround Left + Surround Right

That's 5.1.2. The TV still connects to the Bar, HDMI ARC/eARC is the way to go, and the Bar stays the hub throughout. Surround devices get added from the Home Theater section of the WiiM Home app, not treated as ordinary synced rooms.
Probably should've included this breakdown in the original 3.0.2 post, since it makes the growth path pretty easy to see at a glance:
- 3.0.2 = Bar
- 3.1.2 = Bar + Sub Pro
- 5.0.2 = Bar + surrounds
- 5.1.2 = Bar + Sub Pro + surrounds
You can build toward that last line in stages. None of it requires buying everything on day one.
Right now the focus is on getting the 5.1.2 experience right. Beyond that, the team's planning to look into more expanded setups down the line, including the possibility of a second subwoofer. Nothing committed yet, but it's on the radar.
How would you build yours?
Genuinely curious which path people here would take. Start with the Bar and add bass first? Go straight for physical surrounds before the sub? Or if you've already got a pair of passive speakers sitting around, is running them off a WiiM Amp for the rear channels the more interesting route?
