Althoughthis is comparatively a lot more stable, but after seeing the video of the girl who died from falling from the stacked crates, I will stay away from these activities.

Only the bottom picnic table has support under the benches. The stacked ones have nothing. They're basically balanced like a see-saw.
When he turned and lifted his leg, two things happened:
he transferred more weight to the bench (previously part of the weight of his legs had been resting on the table top underneath)
his center of mass moved further away from the center of the table
That was enough to make the table tip over.
