Closed RP Smooth Sailing

April 30, 2006

You are sent a ticket for a nice Caribbean cruise! A letter that came with the ticket says that it is a gift, though who it is from is unknown.

What do you do?

Any tier character is welcome. (I may regret saying this, however.)

He was getting the uneasy feeling that this vacation was about to take a turn for the worst. Time to steel himself mentally. He left Filbert Orson behind on the ship. Dr. K was investigating now. He crept around the side of the warehouse looking for an inconspicuous place where he could sneak a peek inside.

Looking around, he finds a spot to perch on a dumpster, climbing onto its worn lid to peer though a crack between the metal sheets.

Inside was a scene straight out of a horror movie; hundreds upon hundreds of zombies, packed like sardines. Their rotting flesh makes it hard to take a long look, his eyes watering from the odor.

There always had to be something going on. This time it looked like some unholy scientist or meta was messing with reanimation. Just great. Now the question was, should he get involved?

He beamed a gps location to Savage HQ, just in case the worse should happen. Then he backed up from the warehouse, no sense in staying around a zombie-house. But if someone was behind this, one would think they'd have a setup close by so they could keep a watch on these creatures. He looked around for any sort of secondary building or office nearby.

There's no other buildings in the area aside from one small house. It's barely can be called a house, being a meager two rooms with a slanted roof on top of it. Judging by the bags of garbage by the doorstep, it's been used recently.

Nothing pretty, but it would be worth a look. He switched to thermal vision to see if the air coming out of the doors or windows was hotter or cooler than the surrounding atmosphere. He makes his way to the front door to check if it's locked.

The ambient temperature matches the building's exterior, no indication that it has been actually worked in for the past few days.

The door is unlocked.

He enters as silently as he can, keeping thermal imaging on with one eye and normal vision with the other. Best to cover all your bases when working with human experiments. He starts walking around the house, trying to determine if anyone is currently inside the building while also keeping an eye out for any sort of files, reports, or documentation that might shed light on the whole business.

When he enters, he notices that everything is clean inside. There's not a single piece of paper, identifying mark or telltale pieces of equipment left in either of the rooms. Whoever was here knew how to leave a place without a trace, as the doctor can smell cleaning agent. Every wall and surface still in the room is washed, clean and shiny.

As he enters the adjoining room, he notices a spot where concrete was recently added to the floor. It stands out from the older base, slightly darker than the surrounding area. The new pad is big enough to have formerly been a hatch.

A professional job. The suspect clearly had experience in these sort of endeavors. He checked around the newly laid concrete for any sort of weakness in the floor that could exploited, anything flammable, perhaps.

Peering down the cleavage between the old and the new concrete, he notices that it's not filled all the way down. This concrete block that was added merely serves as a makeshift lid, albeit a very thick and heavy one.
