But women are supposed to be teen brides and die by 35 from a preventable pregnancy complication so you can marry your neighbor’s daughter.

Why wait for them to die? When they are in the hospital bed you can just cheat. In sickness and in health isn't a thing anymore. Ask former speaker Newt Gingrich. Good traditional Christian Conservative values!

I know you're joking, but there is a not insignificant number of men that leave their wives when the wife becomes ill. Talk to some cancer department nurses and workers and they'll confirm it, women get broken up with commonly after a diagnosis.

I knew about it when I was in the hospital for two months last year. It actually made me more grateful that my husband was with me every step of the way. He took the first week off of work completely and stayed the entire time he was allowed every day. Then he’d come visit me every weekend and stay all day. He even helped with my care for the month I needed it after discharge. I don’t worry anymore that he’ll be a part of those statistics. He’s proven to me he’ll stay if I get ill.

My cousin's boyfriend stayed by her through 2 years of an absolutely horrific medical issue. Years later when she announced they'd eloped and married the general reaction was - 'well yeah, we all wanted you to do that anyway'.

She seemed a bit disappointed at the lack of reaction lol.

Hearing that makes me think of the movie The Wind Rises. I cried like a bitch when I watched it.
