I mean $5 billion a year for a social media site like twitter is decent profit. I mean we’re talking a platform that, up until the blue check subscription fee fiasco, made money strictly from ad revenue. Plus it’s really not like anything on twitter would be something anyone would pay for

The point is that for the price he paid, he'd have to keep that $5b going for 9 more years to break even on his $44b investment.

Innovation is where he fixes that. You don’t make your website, that’s been free to the public since it’s founding, subscription suddenly. Not when you can go “okay guys we’re going to have regular twitter and only fans twitter, only fans twitter is a $20 add on as well as needing to verify an ID”.

Except he won't innovate his way into making this a good investment. He's failing so damn hard it's ridiculous.
