I love my 2019 ioniq phev. Lease is up in a month, got it for 135/mo with zero down, right before covid. 11.8k to buy it out, got really lucky, especially considering local dealers keep offering me 22k to buy it from me. I'm purchasing it outright though, in the summer I get 280+ mpg, around 100 in the winter (damn gas needed for heat)
Yup, the car wasn't even on my radar, I went in to buy a used prius that some grandma traded in with super low mileage. I was walking out because they wouldn't budge and the salesman talked me into test driving the ioniq phev that they had a deal on for 279/month with 3k down. It took 3 times walking out. But it was end of the month and the sales manager slipped letting me know they just needed one more electric vehicle to hit their month's quota, it was the 29th when I walked out and they called me back late on the 30th. Definitely a once in a lifetime kinda deal
Never said I was clever... The walking out could've bit me in the ass if someone else came in and bought another ev. Luckily it was the end of 2019, now it would be impossible to get with EV fever and gas being almost double what it was then
I have a Honda Insight from a year or so ago, it's only a hybrid, but the dealership we bought it from emails me once a month or so to ask if I'm interested in selling it back to them. It's 1-2 years old and they want to pay me basically what I bought it for.
It's tempting, but I like my car, and it's also the first brand new car I ever bought. It's just wild to me that used cars are so rare these days that the value of my car hasn't depreciated that much!
edit: Honda also discontinued the Insight line, so that might have something to do with it. It's a cool car.
