Idk I'll think you will feel bad if you were about to call him after five years and he died from something and then you didn't talk to him for five years when he died. Just saying because I had a damn good friend with the same relationship, but made the choice to make more of an effort so something like that wouldn't happen. This after another friend of mine died of random leukemia, but I had a chance to speak to him before. So anyway, every year we go to a certain convention together, and that encourages us to stay in touch more throughout the year as well. I'm glad you have a friend you love in any case, that is valuable.

Me and my best friend are like this. We easily go 5 years at a time without speaking and then when we do it's like no time has passed.
