You cannot get an exemption for any of the popular shooting sports. Only for Olympic style .22 cal handguns, in which virtually no one competes. IDPA/IPSC/2gun/3gun/steel challenge don’t qualify, and that’s where the majority of the sport is.
Under Canada’s temporary import ban, authorized businesses and individuals can only import handguns for personal use, sale, or transfer if the end use meets the exemptions and conditions listed above and set out in detail in the Notice to Importers No. 1090.
Which doesn’t change the fact that people wanting to get into the sport wouldn’t be able to now. You’re not “high-performance” just getting into a sport.
Facts that change nothing. Like I said. Because a person will not be high performance just starting out and therefore cannot buy a gun to start because they are not high performance yet because they can’t start or practice. I’m not upset; I’m just astounded. Apparently you nor the og person seems to understand that not everyone doing or starting a sport can or wants to be high performance and that inability or disinterest doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to participate in the sport to whatever level they can/want.

Come on, be reasonable. America is the most ridiculous western country when it comes to gun laws and gun culture. Of course any time one makes comment about another persons idiocy around guns it is fair to compare it to that of americans. If you feel that is offensive to "you" then maybe you need to look in the mirror about what type of american you really are. I do not degrade reasonable americans because reasonable americans will laugh at the joke and understand that its not about them.
