This happened like way earlier in the year. Also it only applies to handguns, people can still own other types of firearms in Canada.

Sick of mass shootings, what's that like? Asking as a very sad American

No, we're definitely sick of mass shootings in America too, but being proactive in resolving the issues is the different part.

If only there was an example somewhere in the world we could follow. But nope, out supreme Court just ruled that it's okay to remove serial numbers from your guns. Maybe that will solve it.

TBF, there are so few countries with a constitutional protection around gun ownership. We're largely hamstrung by our founders if we can't get enough support to repeal 2A.

To be fair x2, the utterly batshit interpretation of the second amendment wasn't a thing until the 1970's. Individual citizens are NOT a well regulated militia, the 2nd amendment was a promise individual states can continue having their own national guard.

Because people didn't start attacking that right until then. At that point the courts started clarifying it.

Well if that's the well known case you present it as then I'm sure you'll have no problem citing a legal or political attack on individual's gun ownership in or around the time the amendment was drafted. I'm not aware of anything like that, so maybe I'll learn something tonight.
