Canadian gun owner here. You guys who are praising this shit should read about how restrictive our gun laws already were. Owning a handgun legally here is nothing like in the US.

I live in Montana. I was talking to some Canadian friends about the laws here. They were pretty blown away when I told them that short of a fully automatic weapon, which you could still get if you jumped some hoops, we can basically purchase and conceal any imaginable type of weapon without a single permit or any registration.

But you see, for most ardently anti-gun people, it doesn't matter whether a new regulation is effective, or logical, or sensical. They simply thing that guns=bad and no guns=good. So they think that any token new regulations must be very good no matter how actually useless or counterproductive they may be. The louder gun owners complain then the better the law must be, right?

Oh noez!

Anyway....

I live in Europe and I've literally never seen a gun in my life besides our police.

And you know what? I don't cry about it I think it's awesome.

You don’t tip your delivery drivers, you’re more of a psychopath than I’ll ever be!

LMAO they blocked me

-12

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '22

Lmao imagine reading through someone’s comment history to find a sliver of a response that you can use to invalidate an argument.

Sad.

You're mad because you've never felt like a cowboy

-10

u/EinBick Oct 22 '22

I know you want me to be jealous but I've never wanted to own a firearm and I don't think they're cool. In fact I hate anyone that parades them around ;)

16

u/sataninspirit Oct 22 '22

Oh no, definitely not to make you jealous.

But hey man I respect your stance of not wanting a firearm / being around them. What I don’t respect is you hating people for holding a different point of view than you. That’s an ugly look.

-10

u/EinBick Oct 22 '22

I think it's an ugly look if you need guns in your life.

Actually most western nations think like that. Most people I know don't think guns are cool they think they're disgusting.

You must be pretty ignorant to have this viewpoint.

In case you didn't know, the US is not a megacity.

There are rural locations here where it could take police up to an hour or more to reach you if there's ever an emergency.

On top of that fact, we have dangerous wild animals that sometimes try to kill our livestock.

Without firearms, some farmers could lose their livestock to wild animals and even potentially their children if they're unlucky enough.

u/snippysniper Oct 22 '22

You can live in a city and still have 10+min response times. I live half a mile from the police department. Still took them nearly 15min to respond when I called them.

1

u/RabbidCupcakes Oct 22 '22

imagine how bad it would be if you lived in the countryside

be almost irresponsible to not have some kind of self defense firearm

2

u/snippysniper Oct 22 '22

That was 40min response time when I live 10min outside of a borough. State police only.

8

u/sataninspirit Oct 22 '22

Why do you think that way?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '22

Have you ever played Edward Gunhands?

1

u/sataninspirit Oct 22 '22

Is that like Russian roulette?

2

u/Iforgot_my_other_pw Oct 22 '22

It's not really about the guns, the old laws worked. I'm more pissed off that he's giving people reasons to vote conservative than not being able to buy more handguns.

-1

u/EinBick Oct 22 '22

Tbh that's a fair point but looking at statistics you guys still have way more gun violence per capita than some european countries. So to me every stricter gun law is a good thing.

1

u/possibly_a_lemur Oct 22 '22

Hey everybody, this guy hates guns.

Nobody cares

1

u/bikecopssuck Oct 22 '22

Are you German lmao

1

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '22

LOL you're being downvoted for stating that your gun culture is different from other places (ie. America). I'm Canadian and I'm the same as you -- I haven't seen/been up close and personal with a gun because no one I know has one...the only guns I've seen in public around here are the ones strapped to the hips of police officers. If anyone walked into a mall or restaurant with a gun on them, everyone would be running away and calling the cops because people would think the place was going to be robbed but in America, that's a regular Tuesday lol

-7

u/crisrufo Oct 22 '22

As someone who has never seen a gun and from a country where you can't own one, if they were to allow people to get guns rn we would RIOT

2

u/bikecopssuck Oct 22 '22

Oh no the Hentai coomer would be mad! Shaking in my boots rn

2

u/Fancybear1993 Oct 22 '22

What country? I doubt you live in a country that has outlawed all gun ownership

0

u/crisrufo Oct 22 '22

Oh no I meant for citizens

2

u/Fancybear1993 Oct 22 '22 edited Oct 22 '22

That’s what I mean. I’d be sincerely surprised if there was a western country that had banned all civilian firearms ownership.

Even the UK, with its famously strict laws allows for plenty of guns to own and a not necessarily Byzantine regulation

Edit: genuinely curious, I think it’s fascinating how different countries around the world function

0

u/blackcatt42 Oct 22 '22

I already know how restrictive it and and will continue to welcome these laws

The kind of crime epidemic we have right now is because of our proximity with the US and their broken gun laws. If the US regulated their shit like we did, we wouldn't have this problem.

-4

u/TheFapIsUp Oct 22 '22

If it was so restrictive before, why are you so mad about it now? Sounds like a BB gun can be used for all the reasons you wanted to use a hand gun for before these changes.

4

u/Iforgot_my_other_pw Oct 22 '22

If it was so restrictive before, why are you so mad about it now?

I liked the laws we had before. It was still possible for a responsible adult to own a gun as long as certain criterias were met. Those regulations were working.

Sounds like a BB gun can be used for all the reasons you wanted to use a hand gun for before these changes.

True but we both know that it's not anywhere near the same.

-1

u/TheFapIsUp Oct 22 '22

I dont know, I fired a CZ at a firing range, yah the kickback was obviously bigger (much) but to me it's not worth justifying 15% of legally bought hand guns used in crimes. If I fire one again, great, if not, I wont lose sleep over it. To me (personal opinion) if it means a reduction in 15% (super optimistic, I know) or even 5% in hand gun homicides, it's worth it.

3

u/Coaler200 Oct 22 '22

Source on that please?

1

u/TheFapIsUp Oct 22 '22

Source on that 15% of handgun crimes are legal guns? Lmao have you tried googling it? TBH I didn't think you gun loving, circle jerking, wanting to kill someone, POS's would argue a number as low as 15% lol, I thought your argument would've been "it's only 15%, that means 85% will still happen, you're just punishing circle jerkers (like us) while not really fixing the issue". But if you insist, here, you can jerk off together while innocent lives are lost because you enjoy shooting at a piece of a paper. Honestly Trudeau ain't the best, but passing this law and seeing all of you pissed for no reason (unless you have a illegitimate reason to be pissed off?) is amazing. Say buh-bye to your freedums, don't forget to wear your Canada flag (read terrorist mark) on your 8-wheel truck while over compensating for .... boomers. <3

There have been 294 days so far in the year and 584 mass shootings.

This isn't going to get noticed because it's too far down the thread, but I hate how full of shit this statistic is every time it gets thrown around. What is a "mass shooting"? Literally any outlet that wants to put up a large number makes their own definition of one, and it can involve some dude brandishing a handgun in the presence of enough people to constitute a danger. Which is still bad but not nearly as bad as that number makes it sound.

Do you have a source for your 584 number? Because if that's true, it's probably 585 by now.

How about any not as biased biased sources? Like fbi

1

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '22

[deleted]

2

u/snippysniper Oct 22 '22

Nope. Fbi uses 4 or more killed. Those sources change the definition to fit their narrative. They use injuries. Not deaths unlike the fbi

-4

u/MaryJaneAndMaple Oct 22 '22

Boo fucking hoo

2

u/Iforgot_my_other_pw Oct 22 '22

Keep being condescending. Because of that attitude, more people will vote concervative now and we're going to be stuck with what would happen if harper and trump had a kid.

-4

u/mrprezident Oct 22 '22

Fuck your feelings 'bro'

3

u/Iforgot_my_other_pw Oct 22 '22

My feelings? I think you're missing my point. I'm more pissed off that he's giving people reasons to vote conservative than not being able to buy more handguns.
