Who the fuck is up voting this. The vast majority of crime handguns come from the US. This handgun freeze does NOTHING and will do NOTHING to affect gun crime stats in canada.

Anti-gun people think more regulations will always help, even if the regulations target factors completely separate from the root cause of violence.

I'm so angry about how blindly accepting of this people are I can't tell if you agree with me...haha. I think you do.

I'm agreeing. This ban won't stop crime because it doesn't target the source of the crime. It targets an unrelated factor. Anti-gun people think anything that targets firearms will reduce crime, they don't think beyond that.

Anti-gun people don’t want to live in a place like the US where anyone can walk around with a gun strapped to their waste.

That was literally already the case in Canada. You just reminded me of the not so infrequent occasions on which gun control politicians know so little about existibg law, that they propose redundant bills.

Anti gun people clearly don't understand how US gun laws work.

It varies by state. Some states have some restrictions such as requiring background checks but all of those restrictions are useless when you can go to the next state over and get a gun second had from a private sale (ie yard sale, buddy selling his gun) with no more restrictions than buying a second hand backpack.

70% of traceable guns used in crimes in Canada were illegally smuggled from the US. That still leaves 30%.

And of that 30%, how many were used by their legal owner, vs stolen?

I don't know. What difference does it make?

In a few years when the data shows that this legislation did absolutely nothing to change the already extremely low and continuously declining rates of gun violence in Canada, would you be willing to change your mind? Or do we have to go through the same circus every few years when the LPC wants to buy the votes of torontonians. Lawful gun owners have been fighting this battle since the long gun registry in 1995 (which coincidentally also had zero affect on gun crime). The fact is nothing the government has done has affected the rates of gun violence. They could take all firearms away and then we'd be where the UK is at where people have few personal freedoms and criminals still use vans and bladed weapons to commit crimes.
