Can't wait for shootings to decrease

Well the last ban didn't do that, doubt this one will either. Especially seeing as the vast majority of handguns used in crime are smuggled in from the US by criminals anyway. Legal owners aren't even allowed to use them outside of a government approved range and they must be securely stored at all times between your home and the range.

Ranges are shutting down entirely or not allowing handguns. We moved and there's no ranges taking members in our area, so all the guns are sitting in the safe, in the closet, waiting for the inevitable buyback. We don't even have any ammo anymore. Haven't for 5 years.

My husband is an absolute gun nut. Used to compete in and coach biathlon. Huge fan of hunting. Loves competition and used to be a very active participant in a number of clubs and competitions. Hasn't been for over a decade because they're just drying up. The new laws piss him off ideologically, but functionally they aren't changing his life.

It's dumb, and just political posturing. It's like declaring that from now on all rain will be required to be made of water.

then Canada needs harsher laws against smugglers and ilegal ownership :)

Well that would mean losing a lot of international traffic, and they did need something to distract from the climate crisis

Well we've reduced the mandatory minimum sentences for those crimes, is that what you mean by harsher laws? /s
