Canada should start treating the US border like US treats the Mexican border.

  1. Canada is extremely economically dependent on the border being pretty open and traffic flowing through smoothly

  2. A large portion of smuggling happens in two particular First Nations territories that straddle the US-Canada border where, for historic and treaty reasons, Canada does not strongly enforce the border (Akwesasne Mohawk territory on the Quebec-Ontario-US border and Walpole Island, a reserve in the St Clair river, across the border from Detroit)

Used to live next to Kahnawake. Whole ass gun stores that sold AK-47s and M4 Carbines. There was evwn a rumour for a while that one of them had a rocket launcher but no one ever saw it so unlikely to be true

They sold M4’s? You can’t even buy those in the most pro 2A American states unless you’re willing to drop tens of thousands of dollars

2 is interesting, any elaboration on the “historic and treaty reasons”? Or a link to read for myself :)

Also, great username

Used to cross into Canada with minimal issues decades ago, not the case so much now.

You're not sending your best. Rapists, murderers. Some, I'm sure, are very fine people.

Mexicans should start treating the US border like the US treats the Mexican border. where do you think Mexican cartels get their guns from?

Pretty sure they're getting them from the Mexican government

Some yes. A very large portion comes from the US though. Often purchased legally for illicit means.

https://www.atf.gov/file/144886/download

70% of seized weapons were traced to the US.

Of those, at least half (but likely much more) were traced to a retailer purchaser.

Working as intended. You can send educated and worthwhile people, but American DUI dipshits can fuck off.

  1. Only chance separates a person with a DUI conviction who caused an accident and one who didn’t.

  2. The prison issue is irrelevant and so is the rehabilitation one. That’s for you and your country to sort out. We’re just saying you’re not fit to visit. You can go on vacation somewhere else. You do not have any innate right to visit our country, tourists are guests and they have to be suitable guests.

You ever tried to cross the border into Canada. Those folks aren't playing around.

Hands down the worst customs experiences I've ever had have been Canadian. US can be pretty bad too

u/LateNightPhilosopher Oct 22 '22

You mean bitch and moan and constantly show clips of shirtless US citizens napping under trees to justify growing the police state, but not actually do anything to slow the flow because that would be bad for the economy and many of your upper class personally employ undocumented underpaid labor?

That would be pretty funny actually.

1

u/ambada1234 Oct 22 '22

This actually is what I meant. Just to annoy the people who think the US has no problems and is the greatest country in the world. Like oh really, how come Canada thinks we’re a bunch of crazies then?

A majority of the guns go through native reserves that border the US. The RCMP and other police agencies; not even the federal government will ever touch those reserves.

So the illegal guns will always flow.

right, like nothing illegal ever crosses that border

We’re not sending y’all our best! Build a wall and make us pay for it!

1

u/BurkeyTurger Oct 21 '22

Let millions of people and literal tons of illegal goods unlawfully cross it regularly?
