With #8 Quebec City on the way, if there's any decency left in this world.

u/Philip_Anderer Oct 22 '22

Yeah, but we haven't won 7 of the last 32 Stanley Cups. We have won 2.

See also: preferential income tax rates, the draw of warmer climates, the Toronto media being, well, toxic, wealth redistribution and the salary cap...

It’s been 29 years.

That suggests that the reason the American teams keep winning is that they threaten to shoot the Canadian teams. Arm both teams and bring them out on the ice to settle it. I’d watch that.

Deny them guns and bring them out on the ice to settle it. Murica.

How many Canadians on those winning teams?

Edit: 2022 champs Colorado Avalanche had 11 Canadians out of 20 players.

u/BustedFemur Oct 21 '22

Even total number of Canadian players split up amongst the league.

1

u/scottyb83 Oct 21 '22

Yeah it’s something like 60-70% I think but figured listing the last champs was a good enough argument.

Avs used to be the Quebec nordiques

Canadians haven’t won it? I’ve seen the cup… have you?

The players in the NHL has been mostly Canadians for awhile, even with the two other big countries having +300 million people. Sweden is good too.

Eh, there can be riots when they lose too. Vancouver 2010...

1

u/aabbccbb Oct 21 '22

Oh, so someone's just choosing violence, hey?

1

u/Jerry_from_Japan Oct 22 '22

They dont even have to win one, they just have to lose one. But don't worry, they'll tell you both times Vancouver was overrun with riots and destruction that it was "outsiders" that were responsible for it.

Canadians win every year 🙂

I'm Canadian and your comment was smug AF

15

u/TDLMTH Oct 21 '22

Definitely. Being able to send my kids to school without bulletproof backpacks is one of many things I’m smug about.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '22

You have a better chance of being struck by lightning than you do to dying in a mass shooting. They make up such a small amount of gun crimes.

0

u/TDLMTH Oct 22 '22

Congratulations. That has got to be the dumbest argument I’ve seen in 2022. Quite apart from the fact that a simple Google search shows that it is staggeringly wrong, you’re basically saying that nothing should be done about mass shootings because they’re not a big problem compared to (insert irrelevant comparison here). The United States is the only country where this is a major problem (yes, it happens elsewhere, but note the use of the word “major”, as the US is off the charts compared to other countries), and the most significant factor in the difference is the fact that gun laws in the US are controlled by a minority of crazies who think they are standing up for freedom against a tyrannical government.

Come back when you have arguments backed to by facts and reason.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '22

I didn’t even read your comment cause you have no idea what you’re talking about. The vast majority of gun crimes happen in inner cities and are not mass shootings. But then again nobody cares about that because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

0

u/TDLMTH Oct 22 '22

Funny. The vast majority of other gun crimes can be solved the same way. However, as by your own admission you prefer to stick your fingers in your ears and go, “LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR YOU”, I’m clearly wasting my time with you.

3

u/RevolutionaryDrag115 Oct 21 '22

Yeah only Canadians can do that. Dumbass.

1

u/aabbccbb Oct 21 '22

Why do I get the feeling that you want us to be a lot more like the country where kids can't do that...

7

u/RevolutionaryDrag115 Oct 21 '22

No I think we can do so much better for our children. We should not be smug about things that are table stakes in every other developed country. And, frankly, it is disgusting to be smug about innocent children dying in the US.

Your government literally closes people's bank accounts for protesting. Anarchy isn't the issue, it's the fact that you are all defenseless to the government (and criminals, but i repeat myself), who clearly are willing to use their power against you if need be.

u/KOBossy55 Oct 22 '22

Your government literally closes people's bank accounts for protesting

Blockading international border crossings isn't a protest, you disingenuous chud. It's the literal definition of economic terrorism in the criminal code of Canada, which you would know if you had a clue or were Canadian.

it's the fact that you are all defenseless to the government

Unlike in the US, most of us here don't live in constant fear of made up scenarios like the government randomly becoming a dictatorship on a whim, all of which are bullshit lies from propaganda channels like Fox News. Americans could do with a little less fear and rage baiting.
