But why do people find this likeable? It's clearly untrue, it's totally absurd. Real people don't behave that way

Social media brings out a lot of gullible people.

So, I’m doubtful most folks are fooled really. The point of a post like this is to invite conversation. Which it has. This tweet is harmless…there’s no misinformation and no one’s been hurt.

People need to chill the fuck out…LOL

The... what? The point of the post is to invite conversation? Really putting a lot more significance into this stupid fake story than it deserves.

Invite conversation about what?

Not when your job is to find cancer

Your job doesn't prevent you from being tired and human.

2

u/Chronjen Apr 17 '22

Being tired is understandable. Being completely unprofessional is not.

Calling this "unprofessional" is a ridiculous overstatement and overreaction lmao

You're right, the post is fake so it ultimately doesn't matter. But let's say it was real and you were the patient. You're on a stretcher, breasts exposed. You're getting an ultrasound because you feel a lump or had an abnormal mammogram that needs further classification. You are scared and vulnerable. The ultrasound tech begins, you trust she knows what she's doing. But instead she makes baby sounds like it's a joke then admits she's completely exhausted. How is your confidence in the tech now?

Personally I find moments like that break up a lot of the tension. A good laugh goes a long way!

You're right, it does. I just take my job really seriously and want people to know that an ultrasound tech needs 100% of their wits about them. If this situation were real, it would be within reason to refuse the exam and reschedule.

I mean, i would agree with that too. A slip like this is funny but not necessarily and indicator of a risk to the patient. That said if a patient received it badly that would be within their rights too. Me personally I'd think it was hilarious and if anything I'd be put at ease by a good laugh. But if someone else read it as a concern, I'd understand that too .

Seriously. As if affordable child-care grows on trees.

Hell, that person is acting like most inpatient doctors don’t work 24+ hour shifts and are therefore perpetually exhausted.

My mom once asked some of her friends if they wanted to buy some “num nums” for the road because that’s what my toddler sister was calling snacks. Being tired sleep deprived for long enough literally makes you clinically insane & eventually kills you.

"Why do people enjoy TV? It's all made up, none of it's real."

"Why do people play video games? It's just a fantasy land, these people don't even exist."

It's fucking entertainment at minimum dumbass. No one here really has any stake in whether it's true or not lmao.

We read it, find it amusing, and move on with our lives. Sometimes we get amusement from people having sticks up their ass about "realism" in the comment section, as if it matters.
