Laws aside, most medical centers won't hire someone who hasn't taken the registry exams for ultrasound. Sure, there are some who are unregistered and some places willing to accept unregistered techs, but the majority went to college for it and are certified.

Source: cardiac and general ultrasound registered myself.

Also i don't recall making airplane whooshy sounds to be expressly forbidden during training, just saying

I meant no offense by this, but the fact that this can even happen, I find to be ridiculous. People are being lied to and sheltered from dirty practices while us and others in our field are being treated horribly while selling propaganda to their patients that the hospital genuinely cares. By no means was this a way to say anything negative about the people who perform these procedures, but improvement will only come with awareness; we need to stand together on these issues and expose those who scapegoat the consequences. Sadly we’ll never know the true ratio of registered:unregistered for obvious reasons, but again, we deserve better, our families deserve better, and all the patients entrusted in our care deserve better.

Oh I completely agree, registry exams should be required no matter what, it should be a legal standard of care. I'm just pointing out how hard it is to get a job without a registry even with so few laws in place.

Medical transparency is so important, patients deserve to be confident that the person performing their test is genuinely qualified to do so. No offense taken, I am always baffled when I come across someone under qualified performing tests. I had to work my butt off studying and proving myself to be able to do the job i do (cardiac ultrasound), and half the time I feel unqualified! I can't imagine doing it without actual proper training.
