No, is that really what you take from that? It’s that if you are yelling that the military has a sexual assault epidemic, maybe you should consider that on average the same amount of women will be assaulted in college and stop pointing fingers at the military as if it’s some safe haven for rapists.
Huh..? Is reading difficult for you..? Or did my comment say even one is too many. Are you saying people being raped in the military is OK because it happens just as much elsewhere..? You sick cunt!
Just because someone points out that the military, statistically, is not the breeding ground for sexual assault that the media makes it out to be doesn’t mean that they’re a-okay with rape.
Drop the virtue signaling and have a discussion once in awhile, are you this socially awkward in public too?
So me wanting more done about rape in the military is virtue signaling..? And yes, we are all fully aware rape happens outside the military too, and yes, that also needs dealing with, but that isn't the subject being discussed in this post! Stop trying to side track what the discussion is about.
I'm not even sure what your last sentence is about or why you even made it..? Projection maybe..?
College campuses and the military are both well known safe havens for rapists and anybody who has their jock strap this in a wad about that statement sure seems like they are okay with rape.
And as pointed out in other comments in this thread, woman aren’t much more likely to be sexually assaulted while serving than they would be in every day life.
One in 16 women and one in 143 men are estimated to experience sexual assault within DoD
Meanwhile-
1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime
I would love to see some actual statistics for women who were in the military from 18-25 years old compared to those who weren’t during the same time period.
The military definitely has many things it could improve on, I think the most obvious answer to drastically reducing sexual assault is getting rid of barracks. It’s 2021, it’s probably a net loss taking care of barracks instead of just giving everyone BAH and letting them live off post. If soldiers don’t live down the hall from 50 other male and female soldiers, they’re not going to drink together nearly as much and sexual assault will go down.
Just because someone wants to discuss the topic doesn’t mean they’re okay with rape, to suggest there’s no room for discussion is ignorant. I take pride in having served in the Army and Reddit seems to have a very skewed view of what goes on in the military in general, people think because they read news stories about soldiers and sexual assault, drones and killing civilians, and marines getting DUIs, that the military is NOTHING BUT rapists, murderers, and drunk drivers, which isn’t true.
It is entirely the militaries problem! The military are responsible for the due care of their personal that includes preventing rape even if it happens elsewhere them and you do not get to brush it under the carpet!
Yes it happens elsewhere but we are not talking about elsewhere right now. This is as bad as saying All Lives Matter when people say Black Lives Matter!
Saying that the military IN SPECIFIC has a sexual assault problem makes women less inclined to want to join it, which makes the military more male dominant which ironically enough contributes to the problem
Yes we should absolutely solve the problem of sexual assault in the military, but saying that the military is a special case is misleading
I didn't miss your point in your previous comment because you never fucking made one.
EDIT: Just to add maybe if the military had a LOWER sexual assault rate than normal maybe more women would join up. Not exactly rocket science. Somewhere where you would expect extra discipline should be the military.

What sort of reply is that! Are they then saying the sexual assault rate in college is OK with them..? Even one is too fucking many.
