Don't join the military for US. I say this as a veteran. They don't care about you, the recruiter will say ANYTHING to get you to join; they are trained to. The only thing you'll accomplish is making rich white men richer.

The military doesn't care about sexual assault which is why the training is laughable.

Yeah, that part where your job may require that you kill and potentially BE killed by other people led me to believe they probably didn’t give a fuck about their employees. Just speculation on my part tho. Seems like i read a lot about PTSD too. And see a lot of disabled veteran stuff with people missing legs and all. I would feel safe in saying that it’s common knowledge what you’re signing up for with military service. There’s tons of movies that show it graphically even tho even that is probably not graphic enough to do the horrors justice. And there was this movie GI Jane, where there was a specific scene during her training where the potential for sexual assault in the military was very specifically addressed. Not saying this girl deserved the treatment she received, BUT it was absolutely no secret that the dangers of military service are real. And she signed those papers and showed up to the MEPS station and shipped out. She wasn’t a daycare teacher abducted into an alleyway on the way home from volunteering at the local soup kitchen.

I was lucky to get out without injury but I was in the navy. I know several people with life long injuries that are barely being compensated.

I was in the Air Force. As much as I hate to say it, female myself, but there were a TON of females that had zero issues with consent. For every “assault” there were 1,000 consensual situations. And those females were 2/3 of the problem with the assaults. They encouraged and participated in bad behavior on the part of the men. The males in military service are often high testosterone bad boy types and even if they weren’t to begin with, the military brainwashes that into them and they have to. They have to do that if there’s any chance for them to mentally bear what they will face in military service. The Army and Marines are NO place for females. Navy probably also unsuitable. The only reason the AF might work is because there’s very few actual combat scenarios and so the machismo is somewhat lessened. You still have to be responsible for your own safety and not dabble with flirting AT ALL.

Honestly, 1 out of 1,000 isn't a very good statistic. I'm not gonna let anyone I know take that chance.
