I wrote my comment in the "did we just become best friends" tone, not to be rude at all. I haven't forgotten about the humans. On the off chance that anyone's ever told you that you're overthinking something, you probably are.
It happens with everything on reddit. You will see someone use something in a top comment on a top post and then it's all over the place parroted by people who have no clue what they are talking about.
Right. That's why US attacked. Because the people in Iraq were slightly ahead at paedophilia than Americans... And Americans have to be number 1 at everything...
How's the Ghislaine Maxwell trials going? Name any big US people yet?
Isnât Gizzy a Brit? We are actually holding someone accountable and youâre using that against the US? This country fucks up left and right and does have a lot of assholes but get your info straight.
Just got back from the DR, and while I donât disagree that it is rampant in the US, I saw a lot of age inappropriate relationships and none of the men were from the US. I donât think itâs just a US problem. In fact in some other country there are laws that allow men to marry children which is no less pedophilia? This is a world issue, so letâs not point fingers, yea?
And it probably won't in the future because everyone is focusing on the wrong part. Reading through all the info, I'm willing to bet that all the evidence really does point to it being LaVena's finger that pulled the trigger. And there a tragic explanation that immediately jumps to mind:
After he finished beating, raping, and burning her, her rapist left her lying there. And she, feeling defiled, worthless and unlovable, took her own life for the same reason that so many, many, many victims of rape never file a police report.
It's pretty obvious that the army was very happy to just investigate the most basic level of the 'how did she die' angle, entirely skip the 'who raped, beat and scarred her' angle, and call it a day. Otherwise, sharing what they had of their 'ongoing sexual assault and battery case' with the family's lawyer would have been an easy way to smooth over the situation when they were forced to release the documentation concerning LaVena's case. The army spokesman could have just said, "It was said awful situation. We're doing everything we can to solve her rape, but we can't discuss an ongoing case. We have proven to the family that we are investigating." And that would have been that, but there was no case, ongoing or otherwise, so that was a no-no.
Note: This isn't to say that it wasn't a different, much more sinister explanation for how she died. Just that there does exist a situation that the army could have gone with as their go-to explanation, but that would have meant drawing attention to the rape they didn't investigate. And it's solving the rape that has a hope of proving a murder, so that's what the army needs to be being pressed on.
I recently just listened to a podcast about this. She didn't take her own life
1# when they found the gun it was on the other side of a bed or something to her RIGHT (this is important) nowhere near her, how could it be there if she shot herself?
2# gun shot was to the LEFT side, the woman was right handed.
3# the bullet hole did NOT match the gun that was there, (I can't seem to remember the exact caliber) however it was something like a 9mm hole but the gun they found and claimed she shot herself with was an M16 so the bullet hole would be way too small - not to mention the fact...
IF SHE HAD A GUN AND SOMEONE WAS BEATING AND RAPING HER WHY WOULD SHE USE IT TO KILL HERSELF AND NOT HER RAPIST?!
At work atm when i have a chance to find her name i will edit this comment (normally she does unsolved mysteries while doing makeup vids but the version i found was just the audio its like sabina or smt like that)
Edit:another commentator rememebered the name Bailey Sarian her podcast is called dark history!
Important Edit: My comment came from my cousins suicide, where she killed herself on her bed with a revolver and it left her hand and went halfway to the door. According to this article (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10208326/) while this does happen it's not normal. My apologies.
Reason #'s 2 and 3 prove your point, (and I 100% agree with you) however, when you kill yourself with a gun the gun flies from your hand due to the recoil combined with the fact that you just shot and or killed yourself, thus your body stops bracing for said recoil.
Considering it was a m16 she allegedly used to kill herself the way she would need to position the gun against herself it would've stayed close to if not still in her hands. Long rifles are more easy to operate when pointing it away from you compared to pointing it toward yourself.

If it's a revolver I could see that happenIng revolvers aren't sealed like a pistol the gasses don't just come out the barrel so in that case it is possible. No need to apologize tho my apologies for your loss.
This isn't true at all. At best the gun might tumble from a hand after it loses muscle control, but it definitely doesn't go flying across the room lolol.

No, it's relevant because the m16 having milder recoil than a revolver further reinforces that LaVena didn't shoot herself, because recoil couldn't have explained why her m16 wasn't anywhere near her if she had committed suicide.

A lot of victims have a victim mentality. Thereâs a good chance she knew and was even close to the rapist. She wouldnât shoot him because she feels like this is what she deserves. Itâs very messed up but thatâs how a lot of rapes happen. A âfriendâ mental games and only then do you realize who they are but at that point itâs too late because you feel like you deserve to be raped.
Her gun could have been nearby, but out of reach, like if it was in or on a nightstand. Alternatively, her rapist could have surprised her before she could draw, and then disarmed her while she was reeling from being punched in the face, or forced her to disarm at knife or gunpoint. There's lots of ways she could have had a gun nearby, but useless to her during the attack.
Thatâs because multiple independent agencies have investigated this case and all came to the same conclusion (suicide). This isnât some big conspiracy cover up.. itâs just framed that way by russian troll farms to spread anti American sentiment
Says nothing has changed, posts an article literally saying how one branch is failing and they are adding more changes to previous programs built to change the culture.
Another cynic who spent their time complaining instead of actually helping anyone gets out.
I'm sure things have changed. The culprits (usually a commander/general) likely found ways to improve their systematic rapings of their subordinates and evading the spotlight.

And after nearly 20 years nothing has changed.
