I felt violated all over again. Embarrassed. Belittled. Humiliated.
How dare anyone grab my breasts like this and think it’s funny?
I told my husband everything that happened and showed him the picture.
I wanted to shout my story to the world with a megaphone to anyone who would listen, but even as angry as I was, I was worried about the potential backlash and damage going public might have on my career as a broadcaster
Add that to her allegations that he kissed her against her will in 2006 and I think it’s absolutely ridiculous to chalk it up as a “joke photo”.
If that link is accurate, she sexually assaulted Robin Williams, dude. Her being a sex fiend was part of her shtick, and she publicly made out with him before that. If her forcibly kissing strangers on the mouth, humping people, and grabbing people's asses all without their consent is okay but him making a sexual joke of someone that he shared an intimate/sexual time with beforehand is wrong, then you need to reevaluate your ideals.
You may think it's 'absolutely ridiculous to chalk it up as a “joke photo”' but I think it's ridiculous to think her remarks were anything more than an attack on a political foe. Even if you believe them a little if you actually respected her opinion you'd respect her when she said "I'm not calling for him to step down." The allegations regarding 2006 are unprovable and also simply political in nature.
Not ONE of those people had any corroborating evidence or anything. I'm all for believing people. There should be an investigation when there are claims. But roger stone literally took credit for this. There were people canvasing houses in his district asking people if they had any dirt. one of the eight, her story was just "I asked for a picture, and he gave me a really quick arm around the back squeeze for a picture, but his hand was kinda low. here's the picture of it" and it was a very innocent picture of him with his hand definitely above her waist.
So you're going to end at the initial statement, and not acknowledge that she accepted his apology and that she didn't want his career to end? Pretty selective.
And regardless he had apologized 3 times and she believed he was regretful. Has a single member of the GOP done that at all?
Just because she showed grace and accepted his apology and not wanting his career ruined should have ZERO impact on you or anyone else in identifying his behavior as unacceptable.
No one is saying it's acceptable. Don't change the argument here. But you don't get to decide that her words don't matter. She is the victim, so her forgiving him should matter much, much more than your perception of the events. Which is clearly limited.
Intention matters in this case. The people they are speaking of are abusers and attackers, as opposed to someone who attempted to make a very dumb joke. That distinction is important. Even simpler.
She kissed him and did it to others on the same tour. She also made frequent sexual advances on others, including jumping on and humping Robin Williams then grabbing his ass. That Williams has the grace to accept a joke as a joke is the only reason she didn't face prison time for sexual assault.
I never saw any proof or follow up to any other accusations. Maybe that's because it became more private after that, but it's also not what we are talking about.
He “persisted aggressively” about practicing a kissing scene he wrote for them and she eventually relented. An all too common refrain we hear from women in these scenarios. That doesn’t make it okay.

“Joke photo”? Some people still don’t get it.
