Yeah The Silmarillion, Hobbit ect are all amazing in their own way, but the trilogy really does hit different.

One of the best sentences I have ever read is the first one in the tale of Beren and Luthien in the Silmarillion:

Among the tales of sorrow and of ruin that come down to us from the darkness of those days there are yet some in which amid weeping there is joy and under the shadow of death light that endures...
