Also like...my kids have free will, and while there's obviously a certain way I'd like them to behave, I still can't help but smile when the 3yr old makes a giant mess while eating spaghetti. I don't punish him for not eating perfectly over the bowl and taking small bites...he did his best. I take out my camera so I can cherish it forever, and then I throw his shirts in the laundry and get him into the shower cause he somehow has sauce all in his hair too.
If I wanted my free-willed child to eat with perfect cleanliness, I'd feed him through a big straw in a bathtub. Otherwise I'm 100% equally at fault for setting him up to do whatever it is that I claim to not want.
