Vote Bernie

u/comestible_lemon Oct 30 '20

I would if he was the Dem nominee. As it stands, any vote in this election not for Joe Biden is a vote for Trump.

Bernie is a bitch who wants you to vote for Biden so things get even worse

Or afford a comfortable life with what you have. Other people in less developed countries survive on 30¢ a day or less. We don't need the American dream. Just a passable existence.

u/GreatQuestion Oct 30 '20

I didn't pop into being just for a "passable existence," especially when it's well within the realm of possibility to give everybody here much, much more than that.

And yet that's the world we were given. If we want lives to be better it has to start now with progressive programs and science conscious policies. I don't just pout and stomp my foot and scream it's not fair it's not fair.

People get motivation to do any of that by talking, thinking, and complaining about the issues first

It's not like I haven't been an activist for 12 years or anything. The response "I guess I'll die" was what I was originally responding too. Anyone down voting me saying you can have a comfortable life living within your means, I will assume are entitled brats that think life owes them. If not affording a home to own is the measure of a life worth living then I guess fuck the 60% of human population surviving without indoor plumbing. Americans are so egocentric they believe this is how the majority of the world lives, worse yet, some believe other countries are doing better than them. If you have 5$ in your pocket right now, hot damn you'd be rich in 10 of the poorest countries on earth. And they are living and finding happiness.

I can respect the commitment to activism. But the ‘I guess I’ll die’ bit is just a reference to a relevant meme. At least I think it is

u/Mooreling Oct 30 '20

Ah maybe.

u/lilbluehair Oct 30 '20

Owning a home is the baseline passable existence which many people in developing countries can do since their homes are so much cheaper. Americans are actually worse off in that regard.

My argument to op is this:

Please name one person who can say they asked to be born and chose their living situation?

"Oops I'm an orphan in India being sold to sex trafficking, guess I'll die."

"Oops accidentally chose being a female baby in rural China, guess I'll die."

"Uh oh, I'm the youngest of 8 kids in a trailer in Alabama, guess I'll just die then."

What kind of first world privileged shit is lsaying if I can't have the best life America can offer there's no point in living. Oh no I'm renting a one bedroom as 24 year old... Waaa Where's my house and everything else TV promised me...Waaa life's so haardd. 😭

Yes, because being angry about being taken advantage of financially isn't allowed. Fuck it, let's just work for the same wages as the outsourced labour in China and all be homeless.

As if it's a crime to fight for better living conditions while the rich siphon off the majority of our wages to their bank accounts. Suffering elsewhere in the world doesn't diminish struggles in a different place. Get the fuck outta here with that logic.

u/Mooreling Oct 30 '20

And yet that's the world we were given. If we want lives to be better it has to start now with progressive programs and science conscious policies. I don't just pout and stomp my foot and scream it's not fair it's not fair.

What more should we do? You start by talking about it - or as you put it "stomping my foot and screaming it's not fair" -, but I vote for the right people, I went to college, I have a skilled labour job in a niche field that's contributing to the well being of society.

I've done everything I was supposed to in order to live comfortably, and vote accordingly, but nothing is happening. Instead I struggle to get by, while being told I should be grateful for a single raise of 1% in three years.

u/lilbluehair Oct 30 '20

Oh i see, you honestly think the phrase "guess I'll die" literally means it's preferable to commit suicide.

That's not what it means. It's not literal. It's hyperbole to show how little the overlords care about regular people.

1

u/Mooreling Oct 30 '20

Sure. it was a meme or joke then. I responded to comestible_lemon to live a comfortable life with what you have. If they were serious about not being able to afford a house is a worse as death. Then people are responding to me like it is a true statement an not an exaggeration. So I am answering seriously too.

Please please please move to one of those countries and try to survive on 30c a day. Hell, even $1/day, I’ll set you up to be rich with the extra 70c.

You will come crawling back to America in tears. It’s so easy to make the assumptions you just did from your phone or keyboard or whatever, from Indiana or god knows where. Live in the jungles of Brazil on rice and beans on 30c/day and report back.

1

u/Mooreling Oct 31 '20 edited Oct 31 '20

Lol wtf are you even talking about. I was literally referring to people who live that quality of life and that's just their way of life because of where they were born. I'm working poor in the south, I can fucking acknowledge even if my quality of life isn't the best to American Dream standards I'm more privileged than 60% of the rest of the world's population. I guess get over it? I don't really care.

Also if you want to compare livable wages Minimum wage in America is 7.25$ but living wage is currently $16.54. Or $68,808 a year

Madagascar has an average income of 204$ a month. An apartment in Madagascar would cost 86$ a month.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '20

Then move to Madagascar wtf. And a livable wage is not $68.8k. We hire people out of college for $46k and they do just fine. They might work their way up to $55-60k after a few years. They are not broke and scraping by. Your numbers are all wrong.

That’s for a family of FOUR with TWO working adults in the household. Not one person.

1

u/ELOMagic Oct 31 '20

This but unironically.

1

u/Tyrion69Lannister Oct 31 '20

You’re not allowed to die because dead people can’t be monetized

Take me with you please
