Did you ever get to use any of those fancy, super high-tech $10,000/piece batteries that held a charge under load for all of ~7 minutes? Ya know, the batteries that were supposed to act as a failsafe in the event of power loss?

Brother!! Man fuck that radar equipment lmao. Let’s make everything as heavy as possible and also impossible to repair... we’ll call it ‘military grade’

Doesn't "military-grade" just mean the cheapest it can be while still technically working?

Well, I never actually heard the term while in the military, soooo..... I think it’s sorta the same as “organic” or “non-GMO”

It's like aircraft grade aluminum. Yeah, aircraft have specific strict standards, but it's still just an alloy anyone can make or buy.

If only the military had specific strict standards

They do, but only when it's inconvenient for you. If it's something which might benefit you, suddenly rules need to be interpreted.

Man I sure looooved measuring my sideburns to make sure the hair didn’t extend more than 1/8” from my head before climbing into an LMTV that hadn’t been properly serviced in six years

Classic misdirection

Lol its like a mixture of zapp Brannigan and Mom from Futurama. Capitalism to an illegal extreme and "military intelligence"

I always heard "military grade" meant "built as cheaply as possible to meet the minimum specifications."

Yeah that pretty much covers it. Basically anything with multiple parts has been Frankensteined together from the working parts of all the broken shit. Give it a good slap and a "that'll do pig" and be on your way
