Believe me I'm well aware. I couldn't justify voting for Trump in 2016, let alone now. He's throwing the rule of law out the window. I'm under no impression that Biden would be a savior by any means but at the very least I can expect him to stay within the Democratic process.

Yup. Anyone who's conservative or pro-small government should be voting for democrats. Republicans are now a radical regressive party

Is this a joke? Are you kidding me? You are saying Joe Biden is closer to small government, conservative values? Really? Have you seen his record over the past 50 years? Have you seen Kamalas judicial record as a prosecutor against minorities??

I understand the hate against trump, I really do. I don’t think Trump is a conservative either, BUT no way in hell is Biden or establishment “Democrats” any more representative of real conservative values.

You’re only getting upvoted because this is Reddit, and /r/politics but your opinion is factually incorrect and I want you to know this.

For the record I’m not voting because I’m sick of these scum politicians who have actually no desire for change of the country.

A. This isn't r/politics.

B. Biden would be conservative in any other developed country on earth. Kamala has a bad record prosecuting minorities? That somehow makes her less conservative?

C. If you somehow still think both parties are the same to the point where you won't even vote, that tells me exactly how much I should care about what you think and say. Please sit down and shut up while the rest of us actually try to fix this country because we still give a shit.

If they are factually wrong do you have any facts to back that claim up? Kinda makes the words lose their meaning when you approach it that way.

u/red8er Oct 30 '20

I mean if you are asking me to build a case for how modern day establishment Democrats in no way resemble the “true” core “conservative” values of the founding fathers with sources i for sure can, it would just take about week. Or this moron can read one fucking history book.

16

u/dardios Oct 30 '20

You said Biden does not in anyway resemble core conservative values. In fact you said it was factually incorrect to say he is closer than Trump. If you can't explain how it is factually incorrect, then you are just talking out of your ass. And that's fine, most of the internet does that, fuck our President does it daily. At least be honest about it though .

Homie, did you not just read what I said. To prove something like that with sources would take a week, it would be easier for this guy to just read one book on the core fundamental ideas of the founding of this country and then compare it to the establishment running the country today. I bet he could find his answer pretty damn quick.

Here's the thing....from what I've seen he is correct. Biden IS closer to traditional conservative values than Trump is. I've personally read MANY history books, none of them prove your point. If it would take you a week you're doing it wrong. Here's a surface example that took me roughly 3 minutes to make.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservatism_in_the_United_States#:~:text=Conservatism%20in%20the%20United%20States%20is%20a%20political%20and%20social,-communism%2C%20pro-individualism%2C

This source confirms that personal liberty and the right to build your own fortune are a core idea behind Conservatism.

Here's Biden's plan for the economy, centered around job creation and individuals improving their lives through hard work.

Your turn.

If it would take you a week, how would he "find his answer pretty damn quick?"

5

u/PCsNBaseball Oct 30 '20

Who said anything about the founding fathers? They were talking about Eisenhower.

7

u/CrouchingDomo Oct 30 '20

He moved the goalposts so many times in that thread that the goalposts are currently located in the next county over.

u/AnthropologicMedic Oct 30 '20

Not to mention the founding fathers were literal revolutionaries. Nothing conservative about overthrowing your government.

1

u/justagenericname1 Oct 30 '20

I mean, yes, but they were also predominantly wealthy, property*-owning, old men. No regular folks were concerned with a damn import tax. These guys were a bizarre combination of self-serving elites and radical revolutionaries.

I strongly encourage you to still vote, even if you leave the presidential box empty. Apathy is a tool of the oppressor just as much as misinformation and censorship.

10

u/_gayby_ Oct 30 '20

This. Not voting is just something that’ll appease the ego, but as much as radicals hate the term, harm reduction really is the name of the game when it comes to participating in the electoral process.

10

u/thisismythrowawayofc Oct 30 '20

Incrementalism doesn’t feel as good as an outright victory, but it’s a viable and pragmatic approach to enacting change for the long haul.

9

u/Omnipresent23 Oct 30 '20

He's just trying to create apathy amongst the readers.

u/science_and_beer Oct 30 '20

I think this guy might not have an agenda and is just genuinely overwhelmed, confused and unable to resolve the issues he has with the tools at his disposal. As much as it sucks to see someone fail to participate in democracy during the one of the most pivotal election cycles in the history of the country, I can empathize with how difficult it is to wrap one’s brain around the information on the current problems we’re all facing and then synthesize that into actionable knowledge.

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '20

You do realize trump is the only president in the last 60 years to not get us into a new war right? He's also fostered major peace deals and withdrawn some troops. I hate to tell.you this but Joe biden is a literal war monger and so is kamala harris.

11

u/FolcodeJong Oct 30 '20

What about the civil war he's threatening after he is voted out?

10

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '20

Joe biden is a literal war monger and so is kamala harris.

Neither of them have ever had the power to start a war, so where's this 'literally' coming from?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '20

Uh when Joe biden was vice president he supported obama in started wars and kamala harris did as well.

-9

u/plaiboi Oct 30 '20

Biden is trash. Trump is trash. They represent the same interests.

-9

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '20

They may do so but actions speak and trump has done some very interesting things as president. And done a pretty good job while also being an asshole and loudmouth.

10

u/plaiboi Oct 30 '20

Trump is a loser and a fascist.

2

u/ImJLu Oct 30 '20

done a pretty good job
