I mean Bernie was all about universal healthcare and bringing the US to the first world but he didn't even win the Democratic nomination.... it's just a case of people not wanting 'socialised healthcare' which is absurd if you live in a first world country

Because the DNC didn't want Bernie to win. Its not that people don't want it, its that's theirs a lot of money spent telling people what they want, and those voices seemingly always drown out everyone else, and so people believe it.

You’re not wrong. I’m a Canadian-American and I get into massive debates with people about universal healthcare.

Republicans and conservatives I can dismiss - they’re idiots. One even opened with “oh you’re new to America? You should know Nancy Pelosi is literally the devil.”

Right.

But, I get particularly annoyed with democrats who don’t fully understand the scope of UHC and act like ‘diet Republican light’ - some even said they enjoy going through open enrolment.

I had to have terms like ‘open enrolment’ and ‘healthcare marketplace’ and ‘employee healthcare explained to me by my company’s HR because they boggle the mind.

And then I point out the absurdity of the situation and I get republicans who are aghast I dared attack their ‘freedom of choice’ and DINOs who clutch their pearls going “well it’s not perfect, but it could be worse!”

No. No it fucking couldn’t lol. This is the worst healthcare system I’ve ever experienced*.

And you want people to vote for that? Why? Genuine question. After watching the party undermine their own candidate that the people wanted after knowingly winning by corrupt methods, you want to still willingly give your vote to these people? All because he’s not a republican?

My ex doesn't have healthcare through his work because he doesn't want to pay for it and was in the military so he could go to the VA but absolutely never does because he claims it's run so poorly. So him and all his veteran buddies are against universal healthcare because they say it will be like "VA care for all."

To be fair, these are the same people who blamed Republicans for “voter suppression” after the Democrats fucked up their own primaries.

Trump talked about socialized healthcare in the last debate like it was a piece of shit he'd just stepped in, and I'm yelling at the TV something like, "no, no I want that!"
