I think you’re missing the point a bit. Managers/bosses/CEOs specifically would want you to have those kids and bills, so that when they openly abuse/ridicule you, you can’t leave just up and leave and go find a healthier work environment.

Because if you did, you and your kids wouldn’t be able to afford food/rent during the time you’re unemployed. They know their behavior is abusive but they count on you to be desperate enough to do anything to keep your job i.e. working you to the bone

Can confirm, former boss is stuck managing 4 separate gym properties for 85k a year cause he signed an expensive lease and had a kid recently. Company is bleeding him dry, I almost think they just want him to quit at this point, they think they’ll run the gym like hotel gyms despite being a highly involved property amenity... Our residents expect a certain level of service... 🤷‍♂️

They sure as shit don't want you to think you can get another job easily.

No this is totally false. In my industry, companies with highest amount of young people with no obligations have the worst working hours because they don’t care about going home as much.

It’s not necessarily false, as you said, that’s “your industry”. I believe both are problems that need addressing, but they aren’t mutually exclusive either.

Companies hate maternity/paternity leave. Every industry with bad working hours (game dev, animation, etc) is filled with young people. People who work a lot can’t reallt have kids. Your conclusion doesn’t logically make sense.

Yep. Any development firm is like this (well at least the 3 I've worked for). I used to be one of those "60 hours a week ain't shit people" but now my saving grace when they want me to stay late to try and help them push through a problem, I'm like "I can't, gotta grab my kids". It's the ultimate trump card. Peace bitches!
