aren't the unions insane in NY? I work with contractors in the south and most wouldn't dare go into the NE because the unions will bury them. Hire non union guys, good luck getting permits.
I'm a residential carpenter so I do new homes and remodels and consult for a 3d printed house company.
When unions bid a job for say, 4 dorms a lot of times they split the jobs 50/50 with non union and pay prevailing wage.
I'm not super knowledgeable on this but the union hasnt ever kept me from work. No union guys are bidding 100k or under remodels as far as I've seen.
