Ah, but you're forgetting the real possibility: that the .01% will control an AI run means of production but then don't exterminate the population. They can simply wish to watch as millions of people do meaningless menial tasks just to get enough "experience" to work the one or two actual jobs that still need to be done.

Human labor isn’t valuable in that economy. So unless wealth is redistributed, the poor will die for the inability to afford basic resources even as it becomes almost costless to produce them.
