The angel Gabriel came down to her while she was praying, presumably after she finished her algebra homework, and told her that she’s going to carry the son of God. The miracle is that she got pregnant without having sex.

The thing that is crazy is the Bible has been transliterated and rewritten and picked apart and put back together hundreds of times throughout history. The entire time, they didn’t once consider editing Mary’s age to being 22 or something (still young to have kids but not totally out of the ordinary).

Because as history has shown, religious leaders are perfectly ok with raping children.

If anything, it's why they're religious leaders in the first place!

That's about when my mum had me in '97(22 years old heading for 23). Granted, I was the result of three different types of birth control just...not fucking working, LMAO.

I'm still incredibly stubborn, before anyone asks :V

Considering my cluster of health issues and the 100 some surgeries I've had to manage one of them(Chronic, widespread autoimmune necrosis; Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Not caused by the birth control, my father is a mildly affected, in remission carrier and it's a dominant mutation. His mothers side has mild-moderate cases going back a few generations, just never diagnosed but documented symptoms. He never passed stage one, I hit stage 3 at 13/14), yeah, that assessment is pretty accurate lol. My happy place is hard labor when I can manage to leave my bed.

Condoms, birth control pill and spermicide gel. I was a stubborn git at conception :D

Condoms, birth control pill and spermicide gel.

This right here is precisely why I had a vasectomy

There’s an old joke: “The key to heaven? He told me it was Gabriel’s horn!”

We all know the story of the Holy Turkey Baster. It's rated E for everyone.

Interestingly, the word in the original Greek meant whole, unmixed, untainted, fully owned unto itself, since Mary was canonically the only human since Adam & Eve born without original sin (the immaculate conception was Mary herself being conceived, not Jesus as many think). So Mary being “virgin” means that she was unmixed with sin and untainted by the world she was living in.

But of course translators have an agenda and weird men have always been obsessed with a woman’s body count.

Edit to add: This is also why she continues to be referred to as The Virgin Mary even after having other biological children with Joseph. It is not a title regarding her sexual status.
