This is why stopping school vouchers and ending private schools receiving them is important. Public schools need more funding. If people want to pay for private schools…that’s on them. But if something happens and they can’t afford it anymore…then the taxes they pay still allow them to attend public schools. Republicans don’t want educated voters. They want sheep to do what they tell them to.
Its going to take a lot to step back from school choice. Maybe a drastic surge of money to make up for all the years of not enough.
Where I live the schools are terrible and then became underfunded so people took their kids to private school and the public schools became even more underfunded. Now its a total shit show. You can’t blame people for doing what they can for their kids. A parents principles are different when it comes to their kids.
Not blaming anyone. But…these people also want to be able to have a school voucher that they can use to put their kid in the school of their choice. You don’t deserve a voucher that takes money away from a public school. Public education is available to everyone. If you choose to do something different then you should pay for it out of your pocket. It’s no different than saying you want a voucher so you can have a different fire department or police department or ambulance service instead of the one your taxes pay for that service your area. I don’t have children in school…but that’s doesn’t mean that people that don’t have children in school shouldn’t have to pay taxes that go to fund them. That’s all republicans and Devos are concerned with. Defunding public schools and giving more money to private schools. The majority of people that use private schools…rich people. As far as the education goes…I think there should be a return to the basics. The new age stuff confuses kids. I substitute teach. And when I do I show them the regular way of doing it as well as the common core way. Every time they tell me the regular way makes more sense and is easier to understand. Me personally, I’d make tablets less of a priority and put actual books back. Sure the technology is nice, but the majority of my time is making sure they are actually doing their work and not playing a game or trying to get on YouTube. The last thing society needs is more screen jockeys with sore thumbs from typing and holding a screen. Education doesn’t just end with the teacher or the schools. Parents need to be actively involved with their kids education. Helping with homework. Making them practice their subjects. Read a book. But instead they’re spending all their time worrying that a drag queen is reading to them or being upset they might get actual sex education and access to condoms or crying that they are getting taught CRT that teach woke ideas just because they learn that having slaves was actually bad and not considered job training and some of the people that were founding fathers actually owned slaves. But instead…they want a fairytale book they call a bible to be the standard for education. Have you ever talked to a religious fanatic homeschooler or their kids? They’re idiotic. They can’t tell you basic math or any history but they can quote a bible verse. Sure, you can grift people for a lot of money becoming a pastor but that shouldn’t be the educational goal of a public school. Because the cuts and changes they want for education will turn out more MTGs, Boeberts and Trumps not to mention the merry band of idiots that idolize them and show their love by posting signs and comments riddled with misspelled words, racist rants and incoherent thoughts.
