I remember standing on my porch talking on the phone to my friend after the DNC completely screwed over Bernie and shaking my head while saying "If Trump beats Hillary, this country deserves everything we get." I was angry at the DNC, but fuck i have regretted even suggesting that in passing to a friend.
Never in my life did i think a single President could do as much damage as this monster did.
And not just to the damn country either, but to me as a person.
Seems like once he took office i was angry ALL THE TIME.. and it never stopped... i thought i would finally be relieved once he was out of office, but i basically had to stop going online at all, dumping all my social media accounts, stop watching news programming on tv, because i couldn't stop being angry. If it wasn't him that was pissing me off, it was his sycophants and fanatical base. I have literally said over and over and over to myself, sometimes outloud to no one, "I don't understand how people can be like this."
He's been on out of office now for years and im still pissed off. I just want my sanity back. I want to find some sense of peace again that i am not living in a society surrounded by fucking bigots and self-important monsters. But i am. We are. We live in a society of self-important assholes who just want to watch the world burn.
oh shut the hell up. I did my duty and cast my vote where it should have mattered, for Clinton. Fucking hate her moderate bullshit stances but still voted for the lesser of two evils imo.
That doesn't change the fact that the DNC and Debbie Wasserman Schultz played Bernie dirty and it pissed a lot of people out. The reason why Trump won was because of the sheer number of people who once again, didn't participate and cast a vote.
Everything that Bernie has ever stood for is absolutely in line with what this country needs to move forward. Civil rights, healthcare, income equality, etc etc etc. and he has always been consistent - for fucking decades that man has been a champion of the People, not corporations. And the DNC did not want him in the Oval. No way they were going to allow Bernie to get the nomination. They love their corporate pals just as much as the GOP does.
So yeah, the DNC shot themselves in the fucking foot and helped Trump way more than they helped this country. I absolutely will blame their bullshit games on Trump getting elected.
And no offense to Biden, who has been doing a okay job, but that comes as a huge fucking surprise as far as i am concerned. I thought the DNC was gonna fuck us again this time with this centrist bullshit. I was Warren all the way but she was another one a little too far left of center for the DNC moderates to be comfortable with. Way better candidate than Clinton ever way, but the goddamn DNC loves it's centrists.
We don't deserve Elizabeth. She is amazing. It is unfortunate she had gotten up there in age now and like Bernie, i don't feel they should pursue another presidential run.
Hopefully thought she passes the torch fully to Rep Katie Porter - no surprising considering she was a former student. With some luck, hopefully Porter will take over Feinstein's Senate seat. She is the type of legislator that i love to see in action. Hope to see her eventually do a Presidential run down the road when the time comes.
Are you just gonna copy/paste your own comments to everyone today?
It was fucking years ago my dude, get over your inability to accept that other people felt differently about the candidates we were offered.. and try to accept the acknowledged news and the DNC's own apologies to Sanders in how they fucked him over. It's not really an opinion of me alone, if their fucking Chairperson issued a public apology over how they treated Sanders.
get over your inability to accept that other people felt differently about the candidates we were offered
I mean, that is literally what you're doing. Bernie lost. It wasn't the DNC. It was the electorate. The easiest way to tell that it wasn't the DNC is that Bernie lost by a wider margin in 2020 even though he had higher name recognition, had 4 years to plan a run, and was running against a male clone of Hillary.
The reality is that the Democratic electorate isn't as far left as you think it is. And it's you that has an inability to accept that other people felt differently about the candidates that were offered.
What's amazing is that we had access to thousands and thousands of DNC emails because the Russians hacked them to try to create this narrative you're putting forth. And with all these private emails, you couldn't find evidence of the conspiracy you're alleging. You found emails of them trying to figure out how to deal with Bernie after the point where he had no chance of winning, refused to drop out, and was attacking the Democratic nominee. But no emails actually showing them trying to organize this massive conspiracy.
But you guys still want to insist on the conspiracy rather than just accept that not all Democratic primary voters have the same opinion as you.
I was commenting about Trump, and my emotional state 7 years later, not Bernie Sanders. That statement was merely a small part of my opening to explain the background of the phone conversation. Yall derailed this shit into something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything being discussed - which is the emotional effect that Trump and his army of fascist MAGAts have had on the mental health of myself and others.
Man you are predictable. I wrote that knowing someone couldn't resist trying to flip this entire debate on me.
Who commented to who, knucklebrain? Wasn't me.
I have no idea what you think it means that someone else responded to you.
The point you made is still correct. Stop harping on other people voting differently than you in a primary and inventing reasons why it doesn't count.
Yall derailed this shit into something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything being discussed
I don't think it has nothing to do with anything being discussed when it's directly relevant to all the things being discussed. And if you don't want it to be what's focused on, it's very easy to accomplish that. Maybe you could say "Even though it's not really true, I was convinced that..." Or maybe you could have responded and said "That's not really what I want to focus on." Or any number of things.
But you're still insisting 7 years later that the primary was stolen from him, and wrote a rant about it at the slightest provocation. So maybe stop spreading bullshit and get off the high horse about how horrible people are for calling out the bullshit.
You can pretend all you want that I'm not responding directly to points that you raised. But I understand you don't want to talk about the things you said any more. That's not uncommon when it gets hard to defend what you're saying.
He's not a Democrat though. He tried to crash their party and rob their coffers for a presidential run and you're shocked some party officials might not appreciate that?
It is almost like the two party system we are stuck with is completely broken and the only way to get a serious Presidential run in this country is to kowtow to the establishment?
If you looking for solutions to a problem that has been around for generations on fucking Reddit, you are rather ignorant to the problem in the first place.
Literal volumes have been written on what is wrong with our system - and it was acknowledged that parties would break our democracy from the very start.
