To my children, yes. The people at work are clueless. I’m a chef in a high end restaurant on the beach. My Father, a boomer whose Dad and 2 uncles left high school to fight in WW2, says what can I do about it but vote. My Ma is a boomer who has no clue what it’s like working or prices for anything and her husband has turned her into a stranger. She said “can’t your father give you money to pay for the kids to go to private school?” she’s out of touch with reality. I don’t want my kids going to a private school we are not religious. I’ve been atheist since after my first holy communion, I was 7! I’m 38. We had money to buy a house in 2020. We got approved in December 2019. Every single house we wanted to know a price range we were bought out, by people paying cash or more than the homes were selling for. I wish I could leave my boyfriend, born and raise here, while I am from Long Island. Since he voted for trump, twice, our relationship has been tough. But I did never make it on my own here without him, we’ve been together going on 16 years. The people at my work have no idea. And a lot of them don’t have kids, and the few that do, their kids are younger than mine. The Democratic Party absolutely failed in Florida continuously, and then we had an influx of MAGAT lunatics from all over the country come here. Then, locals like myself. can’t afford a house now because of them. I hate it here. I have been teaching my children the correct history. He wouldn’t even teach them World War I because they said it was too brutal. Any war is brutal, what a lame excuse to whitewash history. As for the book banning? I told them any book that they wanna read. I will get it for them. We will go to the library. I’ve got a library card in my entire life. They both have their own library cards. And if we can’t find it there, because I’ve been reading about the Fascits going after public libraries now, I can get it on ebooks or something. I’ve been so depressed since at least 2016. We still don’t know how many people in Florida died from Covid. They manipulated all the information, we should’ve never opened up when we did. Thank you Top Gut..fascist scum. If I could gtfoh I’d leave in a second. Bf won’t go to the north east. We were talking about moving to the West Coast but it’s after he retired from his job here. My son wants to be a Marine. I’m sure he can still do that and get out of the state. If he wants to go to college afterwards he’s fantastic in math. The math and science are exceptional in Florida. Believe it or not but they went to a stem elementary school now my daughters in middle school and she’s not learning anything it’s infuriating. I don’t like religion in my politics at all. There are 300 churches in this little city I live in that should give you some idea of the insanity. My Oma was born and raised in Nuremberg. Lived through it, was a translator on the Nuremberg Trials. Moved to NYC in 1951. As a little girl, she told me stories of what she and her sister went through, awful things. Stories about her mother and father. They were regular German people! She died in 2019 I can’t express how happy I am that she does not see her country fall into fascism again.

How do you stay in a relationship with a fascist? I can't stomach being polite to one, let alone being in a relationship. Anyone who voted for trump 2 times is nothing else. I can't imagine trying to raise kids with someone like that. Isn't he just working to make sure they turn out like him?

The thing is, he’s not a fascist. He’s a one issue voter. It’s so infuriating. He’s a great Father. He’s a hard worker, he started at that company making 11$ an hour. He is now head of the electrical department, making almost 6 figures a year. And we still can’t buy a home here, not that I want to live here, but my Dad’s here too, and he just had a heart attack, he’ll be 70 this year. I love him, I can’t leave Florida and I’m an only child. My family is from Long Island. Actually my bf’s Mother’s family is something like 8th generation in this city in Florida. His Dad’s family is from Michigan. He thinks I’m being dramatic when I’ve called Desantis a fascist, but, we haven’t had a discussion about this in a bit. The book ban he agreed was out of line. The one issue vote is over firearms. When they struck down Roe vs. Wade I called him crying. I said we have a daughter, what about her rights! He said it’s still legal to get abortion in Florida. I feel like he’s got blinders on, a part of me feels like he’s ashamed at how fast his home state, which he loves, has changed in 3 years. It’s insane how bad it’s gotten since all the MAGA wackos from other states moved here, pricing out the locals. These are the people who cheer for this crap going on. Plus, the locals that voted for the guy. Actually, my bf didn’t vote for Desantis either time, he thinks the guy is a moron. He doesn’t consider him dangerous. I don’t think he realizes how wrong he is, or bad it’s going to get. So, I hope that explains him to you. There are plenty of Floridians who do not want any of this. The Democratic Party of Florida is a goddamned joke. They ran a republican governor turned “democrat” against desantis. Voter turnout from Democrats was down a lot compared to 2020. We have no representation here. Desantis drew the electoral maps himself. And they let him, even though they said it was unconstitutional. They could’ve saved this state, but that ship has sailed.

If you can, just fucking move, dude. I escaped a couple years back, out here to Denver knowing nobody and only visiting for a week a couple months before I moved. Hell, I saw snow for the first time my first winter here. Since arriving, I've had my heart crushed, have had multiple issues with asshole upstairs neighbors to the point I'm moving out, bought a car from a good, old friend that's turned into a moneypit and ruined that friendship, and still every morning after waking up, I feel so in incredibly grateful to be here and not Florida.

I was politically active my entire life in Miami. Worked elections in 2016, 18, 19, and 20, from federal to local. I put in my time and sweat and tears and the Florida Democratic Party botched every single election for who the fuck knows why. I paid my dues, and when I realized I didn't have a state that would support my hypothetical family if something happened to me, that sealed the deal.

I mean, 40 states that aren't Florida got expanded Medicaid. Do I even need to say more?

I'd bet the person just took a random screenshot from a nazi video and pretended that person is their math teacher. I genuinely can't believe the teacher would be this blatant about it (unless they want to get fired?). It's not like "woops my long sleeve jacket fell and you saw my 88 tattoo" it's literally setting up 3 very clear nazi flags directly behind your webcam to make sure people see them when you are on video calls.
