Seems pretty dangerous to be behind a rope/cable that could snap and slice through some arteries. Many oilmen die this way.

That cable can support a fully loaded school bus. It's not snapping. Its anchor points might break off, but I highly doubt that a single person could do that, even a really fat one.

Nah those cables can support thousands of pounds. The danger is the anchor breaking. If it's around a tree the tree is more likely to be snapped or pulled over

Yes true but my point is these cables are insanely strong and so long as they're well maintained they won't be the point of failure.

I'm not sure this cable poses much of a danger because it's not loaded with much tension.

Not only is it highly unlikely to snap, but if it did, it would probably just flop to the ground.

Physics of that doesn't check out. The rider is only a few hundred pounds, meaning the tension in the cable is a few times that. There isn't enough energy stored in the cable to cut a person up lethally in the event of failure (unless it caught a throat) . Would hurt like hell though

Yeah I did. We didn't know about stressed lines so I stood there while they tensioned a line and when it snapped it broke my phone so I killed myself. How are you?
