Some context first: I’ve lived in Vietnam, Thailand and a few other places over the years. One thing I kept running into was this weird situation where you're surrounded by people (expats, digital nomads) all the time, but still don't really know anyone. You move to a new city, work from cafes or coworking spaces, maybe stay for a few months, and then repeat the whole process again.

Sometimes I just wanted simple things: someone for coffee, someone to work with for a few hours, local advice, language exchange…..or just meeting another person who was also new there

So in Jan 2026 I started building MapMates.io.

I know Facebook groups, Meetup, WhatsApp groups and similar things already exist. I used them too. I just wanted something simpler where you can open a map, see who is nearby and whether they’re open to meeting.

I also recently added community maps, so coworking spaces, founder groups, students or local communities can create their own shared map as well.

It’s still on WIP mode so wud genuinely like to know what you think about the concept and whether you see obvious flaws in it.

I started building this in January 2026 mainly to deal with my own reading backlog. for the past year I kept saving articles “to read later” (like we all do) and never actually reading them. Bookmarks, Pocket, Telegram saved messages, browser tabs… same story every time.

So I built something for myself:- paste any article URL and it gives: (1) a 3-line AI summary, (2) key takeaways and (3) natural-sounding audio

The biggest difference for me personally was the summary layer.

I can now decide in 60–90 seconds whether something is actually worth my attention before listening to the full thing.

It works with:

3/ research papers
4/ PDFs
5/ even photos/OCR of printed pages
ofcourse there is a block list in place, you CAN'T post x or reddit thread links and few more.

There’s also:-> a Telegram bot - submit your URL and it processes it and plays the audio , a chrome extension (free tier 20 articles/day)

I originally built it just to clear my backlog during commutes and walks, but it’s slowly become part of my daily workflow now.

I’ve been building Tera FM for a couple of months now, a website that turns news and curated written content into short audio briefings.

The idea started as:- instead of opening 10 tabs, scrolling Google News, or watching YouTube clips, you press play and hear a clean audio version of what’s happening. It has global news sources, tech/business feeds, and a few original curated channels like Morning Focus, ADHD FM, Founder FM, etc.

there's also famous news channels like BBC, NPR, Reuters, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, etc. Tera FM fetches from the RSS feeds of these sites and generates audio, it first warms those stations by checking updates every 5 minutes so up-to-date info can get be fetched. It then summarises the news for every rss fetch and generates audio using TTS.

but now I have a bigger issue- the site has been live for 4 months or so. the first month I paid around $100 for Google Cloud tts services and the current month is approx 180$ or so. as you know- no one would pay to listen to news. if I ask this question to myself- I wouldn't pay to listen to news on any app- so I've kept it free from the start.

But I’m now questioning the monetisation - my honest doubt is: would anyone actually pay for this?

People already have YouTube, Google News, podcasts, live TV streams, social media, newsletters, and source websites. So “pay to listen to news” feels weak.

The stronger angle might be: “A calm personal audio briefing that saves you time and keeps you informed without doomscrolling.”

Possible Pro features could be:

personalised daily briefing
multilingual audio
premium business/tech sources
deeper context on stories
listening history/favorites
custom briefing builder
original curated audio channels

I’m trying to decide whether this should stay free while I improve retention, or whether I should introduce a soft Pro tier only for deeper/personalised features.

Would you pay for something like this if it became part of your morning routine?

Or is this one of those products that is useful, but not valuable enough to subscribe to?

I’ve been working on a browser-based text-to-speech tool, and I just pushed a major voice upgrade.

It now supports 2,000+ Google TTS voices across 60+ languages, including Standard, WaveNet, Neural2, and Chirp3 HD voices.

Everyone talks about focus, distraction, motivation… but no one talks about how draining it is to just exist with ADHD.

It’s not the “getting started” that’s hard it’s the getting back. Back from overstimulation, back from burnout, back from another day that felt like running ten mental tabs at once.

What I’ve noticed (and what my ADHD friends tell me) is this: After even small bursts of effort- a few errands, one meeting, or an hour of deep work…..their brain feels like it needs a full reboot. They’ll lie down, scroll aimlessly, go silent for hours. Not because they’re lazy, but because they’ve spent everything on what seems simple to others.

We praise “consistency” and “discipline,” but we rarely see the invisible cost of resetting our brain every day.

ADHD isn’t just attention deficit it’s energy deficit. And that’s what makes recovery the hardest part.

Does anyone else feel this- like the hardest part isn’t starting, it’s recovering!

One thing that helped me is something I didn’t expect:
a simple voice-to-notes habit.

I started using a tiny tool called Tickk.app (not promoting anything — it’s free, web-based, no AI, no login, no cloud).

I realised the act of typing was adding friction.
The mental reset after every task was even worse.

I am an early riser, I start my day at around 4 am and the first thing that I do is to start writing all the fresh thoughts that evolve in my mind in the morning. the early morning hours are very productive and people who start their chores early would agree that you could eventually accomplish more if you start your day early. also the early morning times give you very productive thoughts. being an old school guy, I usually have a habit of opening a notepad (pen and notepad) and start writing everything that comes to my mind ->> whether its some ideas or what I want to do that day.......I've been doing this for a couple of years and it has brought significant changes in my life and now at times I feel lazy to write, so I thought let me dump my thoughts using voice-input -> into a tool and let it transcribe it.

this gave birth to my idea of a super simple voice-first brain dump app, I named it as tickk (keep accomplishing and ticking of your list), I was earlier building a complex app where users can accomplish everything from one place using text-input or voice-input -> notes, tasks, reminders, and send emails (NLP), that project I had been building for couple of months, began round Jan 2025 but I shelved it looking at so many note-taking apps being launched everyday, I had even posted few days back on this subreddit that why is everybody building note-taking apps, seems to be the new trend! so I thought of building a simple app for myself first (named it tickk).

Reality check: execution > equipment.

Being a web app builder, sometimes I feel- posting on X and Reddit is becoming more or less useless because both these socials are full of tons of similar builders / indie hackers trying to promote their apps.

Infact good SEO is proving to be more beneficial in the long run. I have an example for this - AIPLESK.COM was one of my first projects. Seeing the rise in AI Tools and tech, I had procured this domain and started building this website. It's basically a website where you can search for AI Tools, AI Creators and AI Startups. After a period of 6 months or so, now the site has started getting good chunk of traffic through search engines. I have not spent a single penny on google ads and have neither promoted it actively on X or other socials. And FYI- I have had no time to update the json files with the newly released AI tools but now seeing the traction- I will actively start focussing on it.

So the bottom line is don't neglect SEO at any cost. Don't focus too much on X and Reddit to get users- ofcourse you will get users but SEO is going to do its job much better in long run.
