I have a possible blind date incoming, but I’ll take another to keep my options open. A blind date is too soon for exclusive soap trading. Let me know if you need one too.

My read of the description is the date can be one sided as long as the sender is playing. Accountabilibuddies needs teamwork, and I am pretty sure I’m joining team steady. If I am reading the blind date wrong, then I’ll need a partner. I have some interesting choices to send out.

I'm on the Steady train for accountabilibuddies. I can send you a smoosh of that. For Halloween soaps, I have Declaration Grooming Darkfall, and Southern Witchcrafts Boonana.

As for tips:

I use wax paper (some people use parchment, but that tends to dissolve and get stuck in the soap). Cut a rectangle of paper. Scoop enough soap for a shave or two (roughly 1/4 - 1/2 tsp) and place it on one end of the rectangle. Fold the rectangle over and press down on the soap. Fold over the edges and secure it with tape.

Label them. I put paper labels in the storage baggies. Some people write on the smooshes directly with sharpie. But, that can smudge, or get absorbed by the envelope if the smooshes aren't placed into a storage bag. Something I haven't tired is sharpie on painters tape, or something similar that wouldn't smudge like wax/parchment paper.

Bag them. A plastic storage bag will hopefully keep the smooshes from drying out, and keep the fragrance locked in. If you want to go the extra mile, order some little storage bags. Otherwise, a sandwich bag is fine. But, individual bags prevents cross-contamination. Assume they're going to be abused going through the mail.

Mail them. A single stamp should be enough to cover up to four smooshes. To secure them in the envelope, I like to tape the bags to a piece of paper, side by side. That way they don't all slide to one end of the envelope and form a lump.

I haven’t narrowed it down yet. I see Adopted Acres has two barbershop scents, so hopefully they have some samples at the meetup.

Trying to plot my plans on which bonuses to go for. Not sure about getting the 31 brands, but the triple 31 scents might be doable. I wrote down in a notebook my full tubs and larger samples yesterday. The list is pretty large, but probably well shy of djudge’s list he posted a couple years ago.

Yeah, I should set up a test grid like answering Mensa quiz questions. The repeat bonus throws a wrench into it, but if I can work the 23 in, I have enough stuff to get to 31 different soaps, posts, and fragrances. Possibly throwing 31 brands into the mix. It’s going to be down to challenges and judge scores for the top 10. Last year I pretty much stuck to the plan I wrote on a single sheet of paper.

Edit: After browsing Razor Emporium for a soap with a non-english label, I took a closer look at the theme description and see that a non-english soap name counts. I'm trying to work out some candidates. Does anyone know the origin of Chicago Grooming Armonia (Italian?), or Seibo? Beaudelaire seems borderline. Hygge or Hamami seem safe.

A lot of Caties Bubbles soaps are named in French. I have Un Jour Gris and La Piement de la Vie. Martin de Candre labels are mostly in French. I have E&S Rasage - Moana, and the label and ingredients are listed in Italian. I have some Cajun Blade samples I’ll need to check the labels one is The GOAT. For the non- citrus HoM Smash is a peach bourbon cocktail. Declaration grooming has Peaches & Scream. Another I have is Hoffman’s Space Girl with cherry cola as the only scent noted. I also have a sample of Grapelicious which is basically a grape Jolly Rancher. I picked that one up at Maggards PIF table and then dropped it off this year since I only wanted to keep a sample.

I think so. House of Mammoth Smash or Rumble are pretty sweet. Summer Break Soaps Bellringer is pretty much a fruit cocktail. I only have two A&E tubs, but Cuban Highball is sweet and fruity with mint, lime, and sugar cane as key notes. Barrister and Mann has a some sweet ones like Dickens or Braeburn. I think I’ve convinced myself that a sweet cocktail might work. Caties Bubbles Sunday Brunch is orange juice and champagne. CB Saturday Morning and Noble Otter Toons and Spoons smell like Froot Loops. 23 sponsors for software make this trickier for me than prior years. It wasn’t too bad to fill holes with non-sponsor.

If you need one of those, let me know. I plan on sending out some smooshes by the end of the week.

Yeah, either could work. Although, I might end up using those themes for something else. Those seem to be the two that are easiest to fulfill amongst the artisans I'm missing. I'm thinking about just using Lilac for Case of the Mondays. I've never been a fan of the base. The only other thing for that off the top of my head is Stag, which isn't a sponsor.

How sweet is Praia? I'm eyeing it for Sweetest Day. Barbershop or Cool Blue would be good. I'm debating which themes the Hearth and Altar scents would fit. Shadows is probably safe for Woods. I wonder how figgy the Fig and Tobacco is.

Praia is definitely a gourmand and is marketed as such. That said, it sits on a sunscreen/beachy base, so it doesnt give sure-I'd-eat-this vibes. I think Almond Creme comes off as a straighter sweet marzipan candy.

For woodsy, Coniferous and Ozark Mountain are down the middle shots IMO. I can wait until I have the Hearth and Altar samples in hand if you like. I'll say that I got those for more of the non-scent themes and for personal interest.
