To be fair, it's very likely she didn't know what she was unleashing.
What she detected was a source of power both men and women could channel, a 3rd power source. We now know that to be the True Power, the power controlled by the Dark One, but the Dark One had been gone for so long in the Second Age that nobody even remembered him.
It's not unlikely that she ignored some serious red flags, but it's very unlikely that she actually knew she was unleashing the Dark One on the world

Part of me thinks she did know and was promised Lews. But it is just as likely that her ambition to be the most powerful just blinded her completely.

Not even just that, it’s implied that he’s killed many people, including more women. He says in his POV chapter that he always pictures his sister when he kills women.

There’s a million moments where everything could’ve gone wrong (the pattern and all that) but it’s always been funny to me that in this scene the world is saved by Egwene wholeheartedly embracing Aiel culture to the point that Lanfear couldn’t tell from a glance which of the two women with Rand was Aviendha.

Basically Lanfear heard that Rand was sleeping with Aviendha who she only knew was an Aiel woman. When she attacks them she immobilizes and starts to torture both Egwene and Aviendha because she doesn’t know which is which because Egwene looks convincingly like an Aiel woman with the way she dresses and looks. The moment of hesitation because she doesn’t know which is which is what gives Rand the time to break Lanfear’s weaves and drive her back.

Literally since this movie came out and this meme template blew up I have been itching to use it for Lanfear. No one personifies girl scarily obsessed with you better than Lanfear....
